Does anyone really think he will have to pay this fine?

For some reason, I suspect that Nagin’s bank account will be made whole, or even more, if this is enforced.

That’s probably a drop in the bucket the chocolate city mayor received in dirty money.

What a laugh. Ray the stranded bus Nager will never pay a cent of the fine. He will walk out of jail with twice as much in his bank account.

What is that, two, maybe three “speaker’s fees” after he leaves the Greybar Hotel?

“Speaking fees” is an absolutely ingenious of money-laundering. Completely out in the open, and totally untouchable.

I’m O.K. with that just so long as he’s so old when he gets out that the money won’t matter.

You need to familiarize yourself with Louisiana jailbird pols if you think being old would affect Nagin’s ability to enjoy having money after serving his term:

After his July 6, 2011 release from prison, on July 29, 2011, 4-term LA Gov. Edwin Edwards married 32-year-old Trina Grimes Scott, ... . A prison pen pal, she is fifty-one years his junior and was born during his second term as governor. She gave birth to a son (ostensibly Edwards’s) in 2013!

I knew he was a chocolate crook from the first time he passed the buck on responsibility for shoddy Katrina response.

Nagin has personal charisma, but he has always struck me as being rather limited and, well dumb.

Like former congressman Jefferson from New Orleans, he’ll use his frozen assets.

“After his July 6, 2011 release from prison, on July 29, 2011, 4-term LA Gov. Edwin Edwards married 32-year-old Trina Grimes Scott, “

Is she related to the “Grimes” that’s running against The Gobbler? I’ve always had an aversion to anyone named “Grimes.” Makes me think of a plumber’s hands right after he’s unplugged a toilet!
Anyway, of course you’re right about LA politicians. NOLA is just the Detroit of the South. Such a quaint place to be so crooked. Just hope that Landreau goes.
