The White House will investigate how Obama's press team managed to accidentally leak the name of the CIA's Chief of Station in Kabul.

Chief of Staff Denis McDonough has deputized White House counsel Neil Eggleston to look into how the name of the top U.S. spy in Afghanistan ended up on Obama's itinerary for his weekend trip to Afghanistan, which was emailed to an estimated 6,000 members of the press.

Eggleston will review what led to the disastrous mistake and make recommendations to prevent such a disclosure from happening again.

I am so glad the WH chief of staff deputized another WH flunky to investigate this. I feel so much better now that we will get to the bottom of this fiasco. /s

Does anyone else think there is a problem with having the White House lawyer look into this? Didn’t they use a different White House lawyer to look into something before?

Why introduce a mole?

The incumbent personnel, starting at the very top, are entirely capable of this sort of screw-up with no outside help.

If Neil Eggleston (White House Counsel) finds wrongdoing on the part of his client (?), would Attorney-Client privilege apply?

The administration will not rest until this is totally scapegoated and swept under the rug. Bush’s fault.

My take is that he was deliberately outed to keep him away from ever testifying in Congress. I think there's much more to come....

I'll call it...."The secrets of Afghanistan" and the deaths of Americans.

Let FR help you understand: You Obamanites screwed the pooch. Again. You are chronic ****ups who have managed to blend just the right amount of malevolence with incompetence to create this living nightmare that all politically conscious, morally and fiscally responsible Americans live every day, while you all go blithely along your way daily screwing new pooches.

I mean, wasn’t your former NSC spokesman, Tommy “Dude” Vietor one of your press pool van drivers back in 2008?

If you can promote someone with these great qualifications to the National Security Counsel

I would wager that The Dude had certain special "qualifications" that Bath House Barry found irresistible.
