Obama Hits Suburbs After Election
National Review Online ^ | May 27, 2014 | Stanley Kurtz

President Obama repeatedly assures us that this will be his “year of action.” (snip)....

Yet not a word has been heard of late about a truly transformative Obama executive action, his rule on “affirmatively furthering fair housing” (AFFH). That rule will push Americans into living how and where the federal government wants. It promises to gut the ability of suburbs to set their own zoning codes. It will press future population growth into tiny, densely-packed high-rise zones around public transportation, urbanizing suburbs and Manhattanizing cities.

You won’t see a more ambitious Obama administration initiative than this. Yet Obama never discusses AFFH. Although a preliminary version of the rule was released in July of 2013, the president didn’t mention it in his State of the Union address. The controversial rule was the subject of a Weekly Standard cover, yet as far as I can tell neither The New York Times nor The Washington Post has ever done a story on AFFH.

Now it emerges that the Obama administration released its planned regulatory agenda quietly on Friday, just ahead of the three-day holiday weekend. The object, of course, was to minimize press coverage of controversial rules like AFFH.

As I read it, the long-delayed issuing of the finalized version of AFFH is now scheduled for December of 2014, right after the midterms. The Obama administration seems to specialize in short-circuiting democratic accountability. Obama’s reelection bid would likely have failed had he not delayed the implementation of Obamacare until after 2012. His scheme to nationalize Common Core was developed out of stimulus funding, with no public debate. Now Obama plans to launch a housing initiative dedicated to gutting suburban independence and urbanizing America,

Julian Castro? State his plans vis a vis housing for minorities?

He’s La Raza. His mother was a founding member

He doesn’t care about the rule of law in this country when it comes to getting what La Raza thinks is good for them any more than Obama does his agenda and Hillary hers

The dems stick together. Their unifier is to renounce the Founding Fathers, history and the Constitution. Anything goes Their shamelessness is misinterpreted by the drug, food and sex addicted masses as righteousness, and moral character which it is not. It is charisma and deceit and trickery

Castro will ride the tail of Hillary whose agenda and sales pitch revolves around not only controlling female reproduction and silencing men with the promise that they get to continue exercising no control over theirs, but to sell to these gullible people, most ‘conservatives’ among them, that it’s normal to spend treasure and time and attention of our society in controlling g the female reproductive system as if it’s normal function is a disease

Castro glom so to that if he gets to fundamentally transform America by his standards. Amnesty takes on a whole new meaning

And this author calls for this man to talk about his plans within the confines of our society?

If he has ever read the constitution, it would have been, like BO, to fundamentally transform it

I am so sick & nauseated by this self deception at these so called conservative media outlets

And one other thing. This guy shows how Texas is certainly not 100% conservative, and that where it is not, it is not

I would avoid, by all means possible, ever renting to Section 8. Once they infest a neighborhood, the blight metastasizes like cancer.

Castro will ride the tail of Hillary

Damn right he will. Barring the miracle of a stroke or some other major medical event for Hillary that the "media" can't cover up, Castro will be the next VP.

My thoughts exactly. You get too many Section 8 residents in an area, and the neighborhood goes ghetto. Sad fact of life.

Doesn’t Congress have a say in making laws any more?

No, they gave up their power willingly, but the states have not. This must be handled at the state level. When the feds say you must build here the states need to say “Thanks for sharing, now go home”.

The groundwork for massive fraud in our tax-funded housing programs has already been laid....HUD, AFFH are prime targets for fraud.

Julian's brother, Cong Joaquin Castro is quite close-mouthed about his part in the activities of the separatist Congressional Hispanic Caucus.....particularly the Caucus' financial activities that profited Mama Castro's ethno-centric activism in the heinous La Raza organization:

MASSIVE MORTGAGE FRAUD ON CAPITOL HILL The Congressional Hispanic Institute, Inc, is an entity organized by latino underworld kingpin then-Cong Joe Baca (D-Cali) in his capacity as head of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Then-Cong Baca created "HOGAR" (Spanish for home) in 2003 to work with the mortgage industry, lender and banks and latino community groups to increase mortgage lending to what savvy observers considered to be unqualified Latinos.

"HOGAR" colluded w/ then-Cong Baca in what was to become a massive bilking of taxpayers. Baca calculatedly hyped the fact that the national Latino homeownership rate was 47%, compared with 68% for the overall population.

HOGAR's efforts were to ensure that by the end of the decade illegal latinos will share equally in the American Dream of home ownership." HOGAR and Cong Baca conned the public, failing to note that most of the "dreamers" were illegals, citizens of Third World countries who had violated US borders.

As the subprime debacle unfolded---saddling taxpayers w/ $$billions in bailouts---HOGAR declined repeated requests for comment despite the economic havoc their activities precipitated.

These mortgage schemes demonstrated the criminal activities of border violators with multiple identities---perhaps violent, terrorist-connected foreigners---colluding and conspiring to defraud private companies and public entities. And mortgage racketeering enterprises which employed sub rosa finance and business practices to carry out deceptions and frauds.

The crime syndicate of swindlers included a Congresman, illegals with multiple identities--all colluding to cheat the US govt and taxpayers out of hundreds of millions of dollars.

La Raza also got Democrat Congressional earmarks and tax dollars for "mortgage counseling." The super-secret Congressional Hispanic Caucus calculatedly launched a housing initiative called "HOGAR"-- Spanish for home. Conspiracy and collusion were the watchwords....... race-based "La Raza" was given tax dollars and Congressionsl earmarks to finance its so-called mortgage activities.

La Raza's "strategic partnerships” with Wachovia and Bank of America forced the falsifications of mortgage-application and the dumbing down of mtge requirements and documentation standards.......which caused taxpayers to be socked w/ billions in bailouts as the US economy tanked.

La Raza aided and abetted risky federal and private-home loans to latinos over the last decade. thanks to the lending industry’s version of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

In addition to millions of federal tax dollars, La Raza also collected a $1 million Democratic earmark that funded “community-development” projects.

Analysts report that much of it went to "mortgage counseling." (waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)

Aren’t there tax break incentives to the landlord to encourage them to rent section 8?

Don't expect that this ungentrification of our suburbs and rural areas will end up junping the fence into the popular cultural social media realm anytime soon...

Many decent black people moved out of Detroit after the riots there, and out of other cities too.

I lived near Detroit 25 yrs. ago. This was two decades after the riots. At the time the city was 83% black and everything north of 8 Mile was 94% white. The census maps looked like something out of South Africa.

It is only in the last 10 to 15 yrs. that the black middle class got the message and began to flee the city. There seemed to be some lingering solidarity behind the blowhard rhetoric of guys like Coleman Young.

I agree that he has set the world record for campaigning, but I disagree with your take that he is not achieving anything...Our country is being transformed, as he promised it would...ex. obamacare? supreme court nominees? changes in military?

Obama and his henchmen are going to try and f___ up every suburb in America that is too white/ by their standards. Thankfully he is acting too late on this.... If we can get a Republican president in 2016 we can dodge this bullet.

These days a lot of “too white” suburbs have Asians living there in peace. So Obama will be doing his best to ruin these ones too.

Northern Virginia is already blue, so it’s going to be interesting how this shakes out here. We’ve got a new subway line opening soon, connecting the city core with our suburbs, and I’m pretty sure the elites won’t want to walk through “affordable housing” to get to their trains.

This is happening in Austin. Renters are not allowed to ask if applicants use section 8 vouchers to pay. Too many of those in SE Austin, and they want to spread the misery into the rest of the city. I can’t wait to hear the liberals in Cassis Village and NW Hills scream when this hits.
