The Obama administration is facing mounting questions about the controversial prisoner swap that freed Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from jihadists in Pakistan in exchange for the transfer and ultimate release of five senior Taliban commanders previously held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Lawmakers are questioning the wisdom and legality of the move. Intelligence officials are expressing deep concerns about its ramifications. And those who served with Bergdahl—or took risks in the efforts to rescue him—are directly challenging the Obama administration's characterization of the former captive and his actions.
In an appearance on ABC's This Week on Sunday, National Security Adviser Susan Rice claimed that Bergdahl "wasn't simply a hostage, he was an American prisoner of war, taken on the battlefield." She added: "He served the United States with honor and distinction."
"That's not true," says Specialist Cody Full, who served in the same platoon as Bergdahl, and whose tweets over the weekend as @CodyFNfootball offered an early firsthand account of Bergdahl's departure. "He was not a hero. What he did was not honorable. He knowingly deserted and put thousands of people in danger because he did. We swore to an oath and we upheld ours. He did not."
"He walked off—and 'walked off' is a nice way to put it," says Specialist Josh Cornelison, the medic in Bergdahl's platoon. "He was accounted for late that afternoon. He very specifically planned to walk out in the middle of the night."
"He was a deserter," says Specialist Full. "There's no question in the minds of anyone in our platoon."

Sounds more like Obama was looking for an excuse to release the 5 top jihadis at GTMO and found one in Bergdahl. Not too different from the rumored plot to exchange the one-eyed Imam terrorist in exchange for the Libyan ambassador. I put nothing past this administration.

I wonder if that is his M.O. - Do the most blatant treasonous thing he can think of to force their hand before the elections so they can make Repubs out to be racists “Look he was only trying to save this poor soldier and they are impeaching him. How about his almost fanatical insistence a few years ago to have Khalid Sheik Mohammed tried as a US citizen with full constitutional rights? All so he had a better chance at freedom. Obama = Islamic agent.

Wait till Obama reads the papers tomorrow and learns the Pentagon concluded Sgt. Bergdahl was a deserter in 2010. He'll be livid!

Among the questions being raised about this weekend’s exchange of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five top Taliban commanders held at Guantanamo is why Congress was not informed of the move ahead of time. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said on Meet the Press on Sunday that concerns over the health and perhaps even the survival of Bergdahl required secrecy, telling reporters, “We couldn’t afford any leaks anywhere” because the deal was “essentially an operation to save the life of Sgt. Bergdahl.”
But just under a year ago, in June 2013, White House press secretary Jay Carney was unequivocal in his response to a reporter’s questions about this very deal, saying, “[W]e would not make any decisions about transfer of any detainees without consulting with Congress and without doing so in accordance with U.S. law.”

Some in the alternative media are saying that both this extremely dubious prison exchange and the VA debacle were done on purpose, to goad returning veterans into acting up, and then Obama will have an excuse to do a gun-grab and label them all as terrorists. That goes all the way back to Janet Napolitano stating in writing that returning veterans were the #1 risk for domestic terrorism.
Obama picked this guy for a reason, and that reason is to stick yet another finger in the military’s eye, when he tries to give him a hero’s welcome. Let’s face it, every soldier deployed in that region seemed to know who this scumbag was and that he was a deserter, not a POW. A caller on Rush’s show today claimed they were even briefed from high up the chain of command when Bergdahl walked off, because it was such a serious event.
