What Happened to Marine Deserter Wassef Ali Hassoun?

Ten years ago this month, U.S. Marine Wassef Ali Hassoun disappeared from Camp Fallujah in Iraq. After a five-month military investigation, he was charged with desertion and theft, brought back to Virginia's Quantico Marine base and then transferred to North Carolina's Camp Lejeune for trial.

Yet, a full decade later, Hassoun is as free as a bird.

The accused deserter's whereabouts are unknown. No trial ever began. No punishment ensued. And our leaders in Washington don't seem to be doing a thing about this.

And the same "punishment" will be given to Bergdahl,,,absolutely nothing. Instead, he will be paraded as the greatest war hero in U.S. history since John Kerry.

Since Private Lynch, who admitted that she cowered down weeping and screaming and never fired a shot, while wreaking havoc inside of the Humvee and with the sergeant in the passenger seat, and she was awarded the Bronze Star for her combat heroism.

That always pissed me off. From what I read, there was a black woman who actually shot back but given no recognition. Sheesh, being in the wrong place at the wrong time and doing nothing and later found in a hospital makes someone a hero?

However, will give her credit for denying the heroism. Still, the brass gave her a Bronze Star just for getting blown up and captured. That medal used to mean more.

The black girl didn’t do anything either, although she did say that she fired a shot at “the tree line”, she was also awarded the Bronze Star for valor.

Well, at least she fought back and IIRC, others verified such. Lynch was out for the count, but became the media’s darling simply because she was the first female prisoner of war. Again, appreciate Lynch for trying to quash the media accounts of heroism.

I seem to recall that he no-showed his trial and flew the country back to Lebanon. Well, on one hand, at least taxpayers aren’t having to fund his prison stay.

What I recall was her (Shoshana) saying that she fired a single shot, and it was pretty vague, “at the tree line”, she was awarded the Bronze star.

I don’t appreciate Lynch, if a man admitted to the things she did and never seemed apologetic or embarrassed, would you approve? Her hysterics and panic may have been what killed everyone in the vehicle with her.

Not sure about Shoshana, but I saw Lynch many times saying she was no hero and was unconscience. I say kudos for her for not milking it. She walked out of the spotlight as soon as she could, even though forced into some parade, but not in her honor. Seemed to me like she did the right thing. She always said that she was just a wounded captive. The hero is the Doctor who alerted the SpecOp guys to liberate her.

"No punishment ensued. And our leaders in Washington don't seem to be doing a thing about this."

Therein lies the root of all problems with our gov't, we have no leaders in Washington, we have plenty of cowards, self serving smucks, cronies, and criminals but no more than a handful of leaders, who are under constant attack; marginalized at every turn.

The entire regime and its enablers in Congress and the media are traitors. No exceptions, no mercy.
