Editorial: The international crisis of unaccompanied migrant children at U.S. border
Sacramento Bee ^ | June 8, 2014 | Editorial

Thousands of children and babies, alone or with their mothers, are swarming into the U.S. along Texas’ Rio Grande Valley. Many of them are coming from Central America, so many the U.S. doesn’t know what to do with them all.

Where are the international aid groups, such as World Vision and Amnesty International? Where is the United Nations? Where are Angelina Jolie and other celebrities who advocate for endangered children worldwide?

Sadly, it’s hard for many of the champions of children to recognize a humanitarian crisis when it happens this close to home.

There’s no way these kids made that trip alone through Mexico..this smells like something orchestrated by the white hut. I’ve already heard several Rats refer to them as refugees, setting up a humanitarian crisis/amnesty.

Oh they recognize it. They just didn't expect to be forced to deal with it or blame their messiah for intentionally doing it to them.

In fy 2013 the Border Patrol had detained approx 2k unaccompanied juveniles. This year the Border Patrol has reached 60k. Interestingly enough juvenile OTMs are one of the most difficult cases to process and deal with.

Obama’s people are claiming they cant send them back because they came all the way from south of Mexico...

at least one of the illegal alien children was a ONE YEAR OLD...

How does a ONE YEAR OLD baby get from Honduras to the US by himself ???

It’s easy to do when it happens 12,000 miles from home. You can make accusations and show what a great humanitarian you are.

500 miles from home, not so much. Here we get to witness your anti-Americanism first hand and that will kill your careers.

I have real trouble with unaccompanied teenagers making the trek. If that's the case, many have relatives and communities at home that should wonder about their well being. Thus whether it's orchestrated by Obama as a clever way to punish the 'pubs and flood our border with invaders or it's genuinely teenagers leaving home alone, there's no reason they should be allowed in the US.

They're teenagers. In a few years they'll be eligible for our military. Wouldn't that create a military with no allegiance to US citizens? It seems that the feds (ie: US taxpayers) will be paying a lot of money to educate, support and provide medical care that will be readily available as a cheap labor source. How many will be or already are involved with cartels in the sex trade or drug trade?

The 'pubs should get on this real fast without waiting for opinion polls, committees and elections. JUST DO IT !!!

Or is caused by their own policies.

I think the UN should investigate Mullah Baraq for mistreatment of international refugees......You know, for the children!

I’m just about done with the lie of amnesty for the kids BS.

If we give amnesty to the kids, we’re effectively giving amnesty to the whole family.

Every time I see this “crisis” mentioned, all I want to know is why minors-those under the age of 18-from another country are being housed anywhere, rather than being sent back to their parents-or at least to their country of origin-a simple and proper solution to something that should never have become a “crisis”...

Attractive nuisance doctrine

I wonder if the media will hold Obama accountable ?

In the law of torts, the attractive nuisance doctrine states that a landowner may be held liable for injuries to children trespassing on the land if the injury is caused by a hazardous object or condition on the land that is likely to attract children who are unable to appreciate the risk posed by the object or condition

How does a ONE YEAR OLD baby get from Honduras to the US by himself ???

In this case, in the care of his teenaged mother who is 17. (Had the same question and went looking.) And found the answer to the question as to why the big pickup in minors - Mexico stopped jailing minor illegals - they issue a notice to leave the country and release now. They have 14 days to leave the country or face arrest.

In our country, breaking our laws. Hold them in juvenile detention just until they are 18 just as we would an American child that committed a crime.

Thank you...

yes I saw that in an article in FOXNEWS yesterday...

“teenage mothers” or something like that...

but Obama would have us think these babies just toddled off from home and wandered “across the street”

Obama’s America is the land of no law for illegal aliens.
They can steal, rape, kill, and in some states
practice surgery and law and do the same under
color of what was once law. If caught, even
the felons are released.

They will come by the millions to plunder.
