Obama says America ‘should be ashamed’ of its gun laws\ (2md Amendment trashing)

Calling the failure to pass gun-control laws the biggest frustration of his time in office, President Obama on Tuesday said America “should be ashamed” of its gun laws, decried the type of violence seen again Tuesday at an Oregon school, and praised a country that more or less banned all long guns.

Speaking to Tumblr founder David Karp, Mr. Obama said the U.S. does not conform to the rest of the “advanced, developed” world when it comes to gun laws, resurrecting his plea for restrictions on the sale of firearms. He also disputed the notion that mental illness is solely to blame, saying other nations do not experience mass shootings and the U.S. doesn’t “have a monopoly on crazy people.”

“My biggest frustration so far is the fact that this society has not been willing to take some basic steps to keep guns out of the hands of people who can do just unbelievable damage. We’re the only developed country on earth where this happens. And it happens now once a week. And it’s a one-day story. There’s no place else like this,” the president said.

He then went on to praise a country that had outright banned and imposed a mandatory buyback on almost all long guns, including semi-automatic weapons and shotguns.

“A couple of decades ago Australia had a mass shooting similar to Columbine or Newtown, and Australia just said, ‘Well, that’s it. We’re not doing — we’re not seeing that again,’ and basically imposed very severe, tough gun laws, and they haven’t had a mass shooting since. I mean, our levels of gun violence are off the charts. There’s no other advanced, developed country on earth that would put up with this,” he said.

What he doesn’t count are the mass shootings of citizens by the governments with strong gun control laws.

Let us do the the First Amendment what this administration is trying to the Second Amendment.

How about any politician who lies should be removed from office.

Detroit murder rate is down between 25% and 30% this year depending on who you ask. Detroit is an open carry city that now has a police chief who openly supports armed citizens defending themselves.

Great interview with Chief Craig.

“...the biggest frustration of his time in office...”

EVERYTHING’S frustrating for a would-be emperor who doesn’t believe in the sanctity of the constitution.

The president claims to be a “constitutional scholar”. If he doesn’t like the second amendment he should propose and lobby for an amendment to modify the language of the second amendment or repeal it entirely. We can have a national debate. He and the teleprompter can go on the road campaigning for his amendment. Let the people direct their elected representatives how to vote and put this issue to bed once and for all.

He doesn’t do this because he knows an amendment cannot pass the House and likely would not pass the Senate, much less the state legislatures. For this reason, it would be good politics for the NRA and others to demand he put up (i.e. propose and amendment) or shut up.

Any one who is always protected by armed guards have no business complaining about others having guns.

People come here from somewhere else to get away from their former nation's BS. It's why we're special. We're the last stop. Wish we had a leader who believed that, too.

In my opinion, one of the reasons that America is so exceptional is that from the very beginning, the individual is supposed to be more powerful than the government that serves them. Many countries pretend to empower the individual, but in America, the right to bear arms means that power is more than just words.

But, yes, there is a price for that. And crazy people have done some very bad things. If we change the laws in the way the government wants, we are no longer exceptional.

There is a difference between “knowing” what the Constitution, and actually “caring” about what the Constitution says.

He doesn’t care. Period.

I am ashamed of US gun laws. I am ashamed that they are as restrictive as they are, as widespread as they are,....it is embarrassing.

Mexico experiences dozens of mass shootings every year too. Do we really need to mention the mass shootings in muslim countries too?

Nigeria? Somalia? Egypt? Colombia?

Agreed. Victim Disarmament laws are a crime against Humanity.

Remove 922 from the USC completely. Enforce the 2A against all State laws, including “home rule” Cities.

No one should ever be deprived of their primary Right of self defense.

Especially self defense against an out of control government.

“Three years after Australia’s controversial ban was implemented, when 643,000 weapons had been surrendered, Inspector John McCoomb, the head of the state of Queensland’s Weapons Licensing Branch, told The Sunday Mail, “About 800,000 (semi-automatic and automatic) SKK and SKS weapons came in from China back in the 1980s as part of a trade deal between the Australian and Chinese governments. And it was estimated that there were 1.2 million semi-automatic Ruger 10/22s in the country. That’s about 2 million firearms of just two types in the country.

Do the math. Two million illegal firearms of just two types, and only 643,000 guns of all types were surrendered …

The Australian Shooters Journal did its own math in a 1997 article on the “gun buyback.” Researchers for the publication pointed out that the Australian government’s own low-ball, pre-ban estimate of the number of prohibited weapons in the country yielded a compliance rate of 19 percent.

But maybe success is in the eye of the beholder. After the expected mountains of surrendered weapons failed to manifest themselves, then-Australian Attorney General Darryl Williams’s office revised its estimate of total firearms in the country to a number lower than its pre-ban estimate of prohibited firearms, and declared victory.

Inspector McCoomb, like the Australian Shooters Journal, concluded the ban `has failed.’”

Especially self defense against an out of control government.

This MRAP is for people like us who are critical of the government.

But for every threat there is a counter threat, so these are what rendered MRAPS useless in Afganistan, and US citizens can make them as well as third world types.
