A wake-up call for GOP, Bush
Boston Herald ^ | 6/12/14 | Adrianna Cohen

If Jeb Bush was considering a White House run in 2016, he’d better think again.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s stunning loss Tuesday night to underfunded Tea Party candidate David Brat in Virginia has sent shock waves through the Republican Party — including to Jeb Bush, who will now have to reassess whether he even has a shot at the Oval Office.

Cantor’s remarkable defeat was a nationwide wake-up call that not only is the Tea Party formidable, but that Republican voters are not happy with the GOP’s
establishment position on
amnesty for illegal immigrants and other hot-button issues fracturing the party.

The shake-up also sent the hopeful message that you can’t buy an election. In the Virginia race, Brat bounced Cantor with just a $200,000 war chest. The mighty Cantor spent $5.5 million and lost by more than 10 points.

So when U.S. Sen. Harry Reid drones on about the Koch brothers buying political influence in the GOP, his “theory” need not apply in Virginia. Voters determined the race in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, not money.

It’s speculated that one of the key reasons for Cantor’s unexpected loss was due to his soft stance on immigration. Given that Jeb Bush has spoken out in support of giving millions of
illegal immigrants amnesty, calling their entry in the United States an “act of love,” he’d be smart to hand the presidential reins over to a viable Tea Party candidate now.

Same with U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio or any other Republican presidential hopeful who supports giving illegals a free ride on taxpayers’ backs.

They may want to pick up a new set of golf clubs and figure out a career Plan B.

In the U.S. right now, the national debt is close to $18 trillion. Since his inauguration, President Obama has increased food stamp dependence by 70 percent and added more debt than any other president in history. With Obamacare expected to add yet another $2 trillion onto the tab, it’s no wonder Tea Party voters and fiscal conservatives are crying foul — and ousting candidates who want to saddle even more debt onto future generations.

It’s simply not economically feasible to give millions of illegals free health care, free education, housing, food, phones and more, and expect middle-class taxpayers to pay for it.

Voters in Virginia just said no. Just wait until November, when more polls open.

[Bush]... smart to hand the presidential reins over to a viable Tea Party candidate now

Nope, the GOP-e would rather hand POTUS to the 'Rats again, and go full force Marxist for 12 or 16 years, than have a GOP-tp run executive.

Those Republican Governors just kept getting worse.

Scott Brown compromised on issues on which MA citizens didn't want compromise. The invasion has destroyed a lot of those older manufacturing cities in MA. MA used to have a nicely regulated guest worker program to meet needs, and a nice balance of industrious immigrants who had established community ties when they got there.

MA would still I think like to go back to more government being local, easing of restrictions on small business, and local control over education curriculum. The residents tend to be anti-war, and now both parties are beating the war drums.

If MA residents always choose dems, it's because the 'pubs don't offer what they're looking for in smaller less intrusive government.

I'm speaking opinion, developed from living in four different MA towns over the course of almost 40 years. That includes being a frustrated Republican fed up with the 'pubs in charge who didn't want to hear anything from real voters.

Good points, but I’m stuck having to choose the lesser of two evils (Gomez v Markey, Tisei v Tierney etc). Lefties, unions/public sector etc is a big electoral block here. Scare tactics at referenda to reduce taxes.

"...and other hot-button issues fracturing the party."

The idea that the GOP is split is absolutely ridiculous. You have the GOP voters, who are to 80% in agreement on most issues. You have the RINO Establishment, which has all different priorites. The RINO's are all Chiefs with no warriors. They campaign as warriors, then get into office and act as Chiefs. The warriors are figuring out this game and it ain't gonna work much longer. The Conservatives in the GOP House and Senate are going to be receiving re-enforcements. Look what just 3 senators, Cruz, Paul and Lee have done to shake up that elitist club. What will 10 or 12 be able to do?

The idiotic Iraq/Afghanistan wars made it obvious obvious that Bush was channeling LBJ. All the wasted lives and treasure and we lost. The area is far less stable than before Bush has his excellent adventure.

Add in huge entitlements, Teddy Kennedy's education plan, the huge spending and two amnesty pushes, TARP, the auto union bailout etc.

” - - - - Republican voters are not happy with the GOP’s establishment position on amnesty for illegal immigrants and other hot-button issues fracturing the party. - - - “

Adrianna Cohen described, in the above quote, the disconnection between the GOP-E leadership and that of the Republican voter.

To her credit, she did not rely on the usual defensive Liberal smokescreen tactic of using Liberal Media Polls based on OPINIONS to magically transform her case into a beyond question “Scientific” Case.

What Ms. Cohen and much of the rest of the Right and Left Stream Media are mis-reporting is that there is a “fracture” in the Republican Party.

The basic assumption of these journalists is that a political party must be monolithic, united, and speak “with one voice.”

Anything deviation of opinion in the party is viewed as a danger that must be quickly healed before it becomes, (gasp!), a fracture.

The current Democrat Party is a perfect end example of what today’s Journalists view as normal political party behavior.

The reality is that The GOP-E Leadership has chosen to arrogantly ISOLATE itself from its voters.

The triple Presidential losses of Dole, McCain and Romney has curiously served to strengthen the GOP-E Leadership’s resolve to isolate themselves even more from their former and present Republican voters.

While the GOP-E Leadership has been busy appeasing, caving-in and otherwise “marching to the drum beat” of Obama, Reid, Holder and Pelosi, they have marched themselves into ever-increasing isolation.

After 4 + years of handing Obama a blank check, ignoring all illegal bypasses of Congress and caving-in to whatever Obama, Reid, Holder and Pelosi demand, the GOP-E Leadership has effectively isolated itself in the eyes of the average Republican Voter.

Romney is now infecting Michigan races in favor of an open borders Chamber Maiden (Hand picked chamber of commerce candidate) over a proven conservative candidate.

I’m hoping that what happened in VA this past Tuesday night will even more so fire up the Tea Party and True Conservatives in MS, KS and TN. Be very afraid Thad Cochran (MS). Be very afraid Pat Roberts (KS). Be very afraid Lamar Alexander (TN). Be very afraid.

Jeb Bush and Hillary are both advancing themselves using the crutch of "white privilege." Jeb and Hillary are seen as opportunistic---using their privileged connections and political money to gain power.....which in the $5 million Cantor debacle is decidedly unpopular w/ voters.

Both Jeb and Hillary have benefitted from, and are climbing back into office, using privileges far beyond those of regular guys.

"White privilege" denotes the array of advantages cultivated over the years.

<><> personal wealth....

<><> multiple homes in posh enclaves....

<><> holding high public office....

<><> privileged friends in high places....

<><> global connections....

<><> constant affirmations of their own worth....

<><> greater social status...

<><> the expansive freedoms wealth and connections provide...

<><> unlimited access to the press to speak freely.

This is the REAL Bush Crime! I will never vote for a Bush again. They are just a pack of One Worlders. Reagan had a faustian deal when he took GHWB as his VP.

They have swung over to the New World Order Program which doesn’t need solitary voters. It only needs our money.

Anything Bush does to redefine his amnesty position for campaign purposes will be a lie and most people will recognize that ...I think.

If Jeb Bush wants to be useful, he should dedicate his efforts to making sure that Florida goes for the Republican candidate in 2016, then perhaps serve in the cabinet of the next President. One of the departments where he can’t do much damage.
