SB Nation ^ | June 20, 2014 | Ryan Van Bibber

t's not like a player would ever forget winning the Super Bowl, but it's nice to have a giant diamond ring there to remind you. Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen revealed his team's ring. Unlike a lot of Super Bowl rings, it's kind of cool, or at least not overdone and as tacky as some of them are.

It should have featured the talons of a Sea Hawk buried deeply into the backside of a bronco.

I love the superbowl rings, and gosh they must cost the earth.

PETA lawsuit demanding they change their name pending.

“Seahawks” is insensitive and disparaging to our feathered earthly companions.

here's 46 of them, some have class, some don't

P.S. i'm a Giants fan, and i don't think their last two rings were that great either... sometimes less IS more

I like it when those NFL ex-jock blabbermouths wear them around the crescent table when doing those pre-game NFL shows on Sundays. It drives my wife nuts to see it. She thinks they are too gaudy and flashy.

I also remember when Bill Belichick (or was it Robert Kraft) took off his ring and handed it to Vladimir Putin to look at. Putin then simply pocketed the ring and walked away. And nobody had the balls to ask for it back. Later on, Putin denied the whole thing and then offered to make another ring so the crybaby would shut up about it. That was really a weird episode in New England Patriots lore.

Yeah, I’m gonna go with “it’s just as tacky as the rest of ‘em.”

Or a picture of the ball shooting by Manning’s head on the first play from scrimmage. That was when I got the remote.

I wonder how long until the first one shows up in a pawn shop.

i really like the ones with the large diamonds, but the ones with all the cheap little chips simply look as you said, tacky... it's a simple concept, a man's ring should look like a MAN'S RING

Actually the one from SB I isn't too bad. Looks almost like a graduation ring.

I think that it all depends on what the owner is willing to shell out.

. I seem to remember Marge Schott gave the 1990 Reds team rings that were cheap, and full of fake diamonds.

Why do Super Bowl winners call themselves world champions when the USA is not the entire world and none of the American football teams have played teams outside the US?

"In your jewelry let diamonds be conspicuous by their absence. Nothing is more vulgar than a display of 'ice' on a man’s shirt front, or on his fingers." -- Emily Post, 1922

This was correct when it was written, and it still is.

I got to wear one. A neighbor’s BIL worked for the Rams and brought it with him when he visited. He let me try in on. It was heavy.
