The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) cancelled its longtime relationship with an email-storage contractor just weeks after ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s computer crashed and shortly before other IRS officials’ computers allegedly crashed.

The IRS signed a contract with Sonasoft, an email-archiving company based in San Jose, California, each year from 2005 to 2010. The company, which partners with Microsoft and counts The New York Times among its clients, claims in its company slogans that it provides “Email Archiving Done Right” and “Point-Click Recovery.” Sonasoft in 2009 tweeted, “If the IRS uses Sonasoft products to backup their servers why wouldn’t you choose them to protect your severs?

Yes, but a secure server means that the server has a mirrored hard drive AND a tape backup, so no single hardware failure or facility being destroyed (it happens) will result in the loss of critical data. Isn’t that the way data is protected?

In reply to your question, data can be protected so that it is never lost from anything short of EMP, If it is wanted to be preserved.

Maybe a “whistleblower” will emerge. But only after seeking protective asylum in Hong Kong or Moscow. I wonder if Ed Snowden could find the truth.

Right now—most of them are “Brain dead” consumed with video games, zombies, green shit, tolerance shit....and living on the government dime. So in THEIR eyes—why should THEY care?

At least—until the serious clamp-downs begin.

I say a flat tax on income. percentage.

same whether you make $100,000 or $10,000.

Make the poor have a vested interest in taxes.

Then we’ll see some change.

It’s because we feel we are “doing” something by venting on the internet and are perpetually waiting for the “other” guy to make the first move.

Actually, I think the other poster here is correct who said the reason is the over 50% of us don’t pay any net Federal Taxes is the major reason.

What you are still FAILING to understand is that the IRS was not, ever, paying Sonasoft to back up anything.

There was a contract for one year for Sonasoft to provide archiving SOFTWARE only, to one department at the IRS, and that was not the department Loise Lerner worked in.

So, that contract was for software only, NOT for Sonasoft to back up anything..

Therefore, you are wrong, and you continue to not understand that you are wrong. That is pathetic.

But this is about more than taxes. And even so, what about the 45% (or whatever the number might be) who do pay taxes? Almost half the population would still be millions of people.

Correct. And add this to the equation. When you send an email (if you use a POP3 system) it goes to the SMTP server. When you receive email it comes from the POP3/Mail server. In the case of IRS emails, it probably goes to the Microsoft Exchange Server (if that's the type of software they use). Depending on where the emails were going, there could conceivably be 3 copies of her emails out there.

Anyone?

I am having some doubts in my own mind. Something does not seem right about the company. However, They were active for more than one year.

This site purports to show eight separate contracts in the 2006 - 2010 time frame.

One thing that seems fishy is the relatively low dollar amount.

If so, still it is worthy of checking into further. The timing is suspicious and surely there must be some some loose John Dean screws in there somewhere. Turn the place upside down and find them.

Congress should DEMAND that the IRS produce all those emails within 72 hours.

If they don’t, start at the top and perp walk all those involved in the coverup.

They are breaking a big law by not having the records.

If the truly disappeared, they should still be prosecuted because it was LAW that they have them.

They are somewhere, Snowden should release them.

“The COVER UP IS ALWAYS worse than the crime”

In this case, IMHO, they are equally bad.

The fact of the Watergate cover-up is not nearly as interesting as the step into making the cover-up. And when you understand the step, you understand that Richard Nixon lied. That he was a criminal. - Bob Woodward

Where are you today Bob?

“Why this country is not standing outside every IRS building in this country with pitchforks and flaming torches is beside me.”

Nearly 50% of the people in this country are receiving a check from the federal government. As long as the IRS is collecting money from the other 50% they are content. As to the 50% who are still productive, most are busy just trying to survive.

This goes to show the concept of freedom our founders tried to protect is gone. Half of the country is enslaved, dependent on government for food, clothing, and shelter. The other 50% is having nearly half of the earnings produced from their labor taxed away to support the other 50%. There are very few citizens free from the chains of government today.

You and I know the above is pie in the sky so the easiest way to essentially get rid of the IRS is to go to a flat income tax of say 10%. Then eliminate the IRS. They would no longer be needed as currently constituted.

Yup. The Lord only asks for 10%. How can the government legitimately demand more.

However, you are mistaken in saying that having a flat tax would eliminate the need for the IRS. You are apparently unaware of how much of the current tax core relates to nothing more than determining exactly what constitutes 'income'. You'd still need the unconstitutional army of vampires sucking the life-blood out of the country even with a 'flat' tax. You'd also still have the Constitution-busting reporting requirements as well.

What is needed is a flat 10% sales tax. You eliminate all IRS forms for individuals. The vast majority of infrastructure for collecting a sales tax is already in place. Make the tax consumptive, and remove the perverse disincentives for growth and success and you'd see a new golden age in this country.

Yeah, I'm sure the government would come up with a way to make the tax as inefficient and as stifling as possible (see VAT), but it would still be better than what we have.

If it must be income tax, then the methodology you outlined is the way to go.
