Which is why they should call the IT guys responsible before the committee. No IT guy would destroy backups unless ordered to. If they testify they routinely destroyed backups every 6 months and that the only copies of the emails were on her hard drive, they would be the laughing stocks of tech field and would never be able to get a job anywhere else. They know there are backup available and where they are located.
