Tomasky: You Lost One, Tea Party. Deal With It.
Yahoo! News / The Daily Beast ^ | June 27, 2014 | Michael Tomasky

As I watched conservatives seethe Wednesday, and Chris McDaniel (so devoted to describing his martyrdom that I think he’s a day or two away from nailing himself to a cross) boil, I came to feel—to a certain point—sympathy. If the situation were reversed, I thought, and a sellout Democrat had defeated a more progressive opponent on the strength of votes from Republicans, I have to confess I wouldn’t like it a bit.

And just as I thought about that, I remembered: Wait. This happened. And it was kind of similar. But it was also quite dissimilar, in ways that are telling about how far divorced from reality these Tea Party people are.

I refer the 2006 battle between Joe Lieberman and Ned Lamont. Let’s recall the facts of the case.

Lieberman was the incumbent Democratic senator from Connecticut. Beloved by Democrats, mostly, in 2000 as their history-making Jewish veep candidate, Lieberman quickly slithered into swamps from which he could be neither rescued nor redeemed. He backed the Iraq War, of course. But a lot of high-level Democrats did that. Holy Joe backed it and backed it and backed it and backed it. Op-eds in The Wall Street Journal, ever more frequent appearances on Fox News—that kind of thing....

What an utter and complete putz. Two months ago, it’s Tea Party dead. Now it’s Tea Party’s peaked from Shlucky Shurmer and this from a communist twink. They are frightened. We’re not going anywhere and they know it.

I just scream when I hear guys like Medved and others tell US...

Now, now, children; You’re suppose to forgive and forget that you have been tarred and feathered as a bunch of racist bigots. Don’t forget we GOPES (gop elite snobs) had to do that in order to win this election./sarc

Those associated with the Tea Party need to remind everyone what the acronym stands for.

They're aren't some fringe group, or at least they shouldn't allow themselves to be painted as one as people like this writer always do.

Taxed enough already. If you pay taxes, it shouldn't be hard to identify with them. There are the taxpayers, and there are the tax suckers.

“Comments?”

OK, sure.

The GOP is not what you think it is. They are right to hate and to fear the “Tea Party”, because the Tea Party wants to destroy them and their corrupt, fascistic little empire they have built with their friends across the aisle.

I can’t take everyone acting surprised and hurt. Who the f*** did you thin you were up against? Did you think, if McDaniel got 50.1% of the vote, that they would not have supported the Democrat or run an “independent” to make sure he lost?

We are exactly what they say we are. We are trying to organize a political movement to destroy their world.

Did you REALLY think they were going to be inviting us in for sweet tea or a mint julep?

The way to deal with it is to fight and never ever give up.
