Corporations step up to sponsor gay pride festivals

In between muscular men in Speedos gyrating to thumping dance music and drag queens decked out in formal gowns, Salt Lake City's gay pride parade also featured a few, more conventional participants: Some of America's most well-known companies.

From Starbucks to eBay to Macy's, the increasing visibility of corporations at the parade in Utah and at others across the country in recent years comes as same-sex marriage bans fall in the courts and polls show greater public acceptance of gay marriage.

In that climate, companies are finding that the benefits of sponsorship outweigh the risks of staying away, giving them a chance to make a statement in support of diversity and use it to help recruit and retain top talent who want to work for a business that supports LGBT rights.

"We understand there are people who might have different points of view on that," said spokesman Michael Palese at Chrysler, which has been a sponsor of the Motor City Pride Festival and Parade in Detroit for years and became a primary backer this spring.

"We respect their point of view as long as they respect ours," Palese said.

This weekend, some of the largest gay pride events are scheduled, including in the Twin Cities, New York, San Francisco and Chicago. They come just days after a federal appeals court, in a Utah case, ruled for the first time that gay couples have a constitutional right to marry.

At many companies, support for pride parades and festivals is being fueled by internal Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender councils who are given small budgets and freedom to spend that money where they choose.

Maybe GM could focus more on making cars that don't kill people.

And if God doesn’t fix it He will owe Sodom and Gomorrah an apology.

I weep for my country

I’m shocked that Bath-house Barry hasn’t been selected grand marshal at one of these “events”.

I was born in 1946.
This country is a long way from the country I grew up in.
It is Sad. . . . . Very Sad.
Somehow right became wrong and wrong became right. . . .

the benefits of sponsorship outweigh the risks of staying away

Among those benefits are government contracts.

"We respect their point of view as long as they respect ours,"

Respecting "our" point-of-view?

Not if you're a baker or a photographer.

Someone in Marketing at GM probably decided that “GM” can stand for “Gay Male” and “Gay Marriage”...not just “Green Motors”, “General Marxism” OR “General Motors”.

Most of these Corporations are controlled by Globalist Banksters. They are not money making concerns as much as they are fronts for economic control and social engineering.

I am seeing it my business. I have a bunch of clients...all local businesses...actively promoting and sponsoring these events. It’s a first this year, and it’s widespread. No worries, apparently, about offending anyone opposed. Usually it would be unmentioned.

It’s long overdue for conservatives to just STOP ALL buying UNLESS the outfit shows their willingness to fight the globalists and support traditional American values. Pay more and buy food locally, local farmers.

Keep your money in the bank and don’t spent it until the retail marketplaces show their true intent.

GM and Starbucks wouldn't be caught dead sponsoring a public sex event if the participants were straight. Do any of them see what goes on at these events? These guys in speedos and drag queens aren't just waiving to the crowd. They are simulating sex and engaging in other lewd conduct. They aren't "just like you and me."
