Supreme Court Ruling on Hobby Lobby, your predictions?

Posted on 06/30/2014 7:05:25 AM PDT by MNDude

How does everyone think the SCOTUS is going to rule on Hobby Lobby.

Unfortunately, I predict they'll vote on behalf of ObamaCare against HL.

That does not mean anything. He could have written the dissent.

I read that Alito was assigned to write the opinions because he had written one less than the others this year, and since this is the closing session, it was simply his turn. Doesn’t mean anything.

The loose cannon is John Roberts

If he rules against the unborn again then I’ll know they got something big on him

Nearly always, when a report says “so and so wrote the opinion,” it means that they wrote the controlling opinion, i.e., the majority opinion.

That is correct. I know people are hopeful here, but they are looking way to much into this.

I hope you are right. I kinda have a good feeling it will go our way. If the Supreme Court has any respect whatsoever for private companies and how they handle their business, they will vote for Holly Lobby. It doesn’t even have to be on religious grounds, just personal private business dealings.

The Court says that the government has failed to show that the mandate is the least restrictive means of advancing its interest in guaranteeing cost-free access to birth control.

Honestly, I hate the fact that the core of so many of our individual liberties hangs in the balance based on whatever the collective whim of nine justices in black robes happens to be at a given time. I continue to be very uncomfortable with how the judicial branch wields so much power to transform the entire culture from the bench.

True, but these 9 judges have been right on the money in every decision in 2014.....they are perfect! Last year they were miserable.....I guess it depends on the year.

Looks like you were just proved wrong on that prediction
