Obama worst president since WWII, new poll shows
Washington Times ^ | July 2, 2014 | By Stephen Dinan

Poll after poll shows President Obama’s approval rating dipping recently, and one new Quinnipiac University Poll finds that voters say Mitt Romney would have been a better choice in 2012.

With Mr. Obama deploying military troops to Iraq, failing to find compromise with Congress and seeing major defeats in the Supreme Court, voters continue to sour on him.

Quinnipiac found 45 percent of voters say the country would have been better off if Mr. Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, had been election, while just 38 percent say Mr. Obama remains a better choice. Even Democrats aren’t so sure — just 74 percent of them told the pollsters Mr. Obama was clearly the better pick in the last election.

Voters also rate him the worst president since World War II, topping even his predecessor, President George W. Bush, who had left office with terrible ratings.

Buchanan was the worst of the 19th Century, but it’s hard to compare him to a modern monster like Obama.

Kinda like comparing the bubonic plague with AIDS.

Interesting. No matter the century, the worst POTUS’s are RATS.

They ALWAYS suck and ALWAYS will.

The only RAT that was barely competent in the last ~150 years that I can think of was Truman.

RE:”Buchanan was the worst of the 19th Century, but it’s hard to compare him to a modern monster like Obama.

Way too long ago for me.

But the fact that Obama beat out GWBush as the worst makes me smile.

That's gotta put a hurt on the libs who in late 2008 were saying that Bush should resign early so Obama can start ‘fixing’ things sooner.

One Obama Koolaid drinker I work with had a fit when I told him the SCOTUS ruled against Obamacare. He hadnt heard it yet and went on a rant against 'right wingers', pretty funny.
Recall when Obamacare mandate was upheld the libs kept saying that the SCOTUS approved it.

Some disagree but I think the democrats were the “bad guys” from the beginning of the party.

I hate Truman’s guts, perhaps in reaction to Republicans often speaking well of him, it’s become a meme among Republicans, for example in 2008 in a GOP POTUS debate when asked to name the best rat President of the 20th Century all of them said Truman. Some wartime simpatico BS. I would have been unable to answer that question, it’s like naming the best venereal disease.

Cleveland was the last RAT President who wasn’t a piece of garbage, and before him, Polk, elected in 1844! You gotta back to 1928 with Al Smith to find even a failed rat nominee who wasn’t a rank socialist.

Harry was far from competent, he was almost as unqualified for the job as Obama, the product of the Kansas City rat machine of Tom Pendergast. His speeches from ‘48 sounded just like AL Gore. I don’t give him credit for fulfilling his minimum job requirements by not surrendering to Japan. Only a poor, overconfident campaign by Dewey and a farm recession saved his ass in ‘48. Modern historians have rescued his reputation from the toilet bowl where it belongs. He actually bottomed out at a lower approval rating than W. Bush, it was just 22% (Gallup poll) in early 1952, it was under 40% for most of his tenure, and he still has the lowest average, one tenth of % lower than Jimmy Carter’s, and Carter didn’t have an 87% high in the middle of 1945 like Truman did.

As I’ve often said, if Free Republic existed back then, he would have been loathed here. This is SOB that vetoed the Taft-Hartley act.

The libs on MSNBC are celebrating 1960s POTUS Johnson's ability to get lib stuff passed by crushing opposition to it,

If you wanted any $$$ for your district for anything Johnson would make you pay with your votes for his bills.(probably where earmarks came from)

He got the VRA passed which included those chains on GOP Southern states on making their own voting laws.

~ 40 years later GWB and a GOP congress extended THAT SAME BILL as is in 2006, including those same provisions, and then they got wiped out in that November by those who they helped vote against them.

You gotta hand it to that bastard, he was effective, he ruled over Congress with an iron fist. We need a conservative Republican version.

STUPID LIBS GET HOISTED ON THEIR OWN PETARD .....the USSC’s 5-4 decision in the Hobby Lobby case ...held that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act forbids forcing contraceptive coverage on businesses its owners object to on religious grounds (that act as abortifacients).

The 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, passed with large bipartisan majorities, creating a broad protection for "religious liberty"....in the context of protecting the use of peyote in religious ceremonies by Native Americans.

Surely, if liberal loons Ted Kennedy and then-Pres Bill Clinton had foreseen how their cheerleading the provision into law would later get in the way of their sap-happy cultural agenda, they never would’ve supported it.

The loony left can’t get its head around the system of democracy---that the law (or the Constitution) is set-up to sometimes limits those who seek to achieve an agenda.

“...The loony left can’t get its head around the system of democracy...”

The only part about “democracy” they really love is the “majority rule” part. I call it “mob rule”.

That’s why we weren’t set up as a pure democracy...

Of course, Truman was the least destructive of the troika of potential FDR successors, that being Henry Wallace (who might’ve hesitated on atomizing Hiroshima & Nagasaki) and the execrable Bill Douglas of Supreme Court infamy.

democrats are pinin’ for a New New Deal and oh for the good ol’ days of FDR who could charm the pants off a radio audience but who never saw Pearl Harbor coming and who finally got us into the war with Germany when Hitler declared it on us...

That's not all, although perhaps FDR's worst failure. A depression is a recession after the government fixes it.

The Great Depression followed the great fix. Only Togo and Hirohito really repaired the Great Depression by creating a need for 15,000,000 underpaid workers and killing about 450,000 of them.

Just to show bad government is bipartisan, please understand, the New Deal was the Bull Moose Party platform. Maybe what we are saying is, "Roosevelts are not good in domestic policy."

Pining for FDR is about as effective as pining for Jimmy Carter. FDR was President forever. He hardly ever had an idea that worked other than George Marshall, Dwight Eisenhower, Chester Nimitz and Douglas MacArthur. My guess is he was dragged kicking and screaming into support for MacArthur.

In those instances he put good, competent men in charge and let them do what they had to do.

It's nearly impossible for Obama to be the United States' worst President. He could only accomplish such a status by taking the Oath of Office while hating the United States like the Devil hates Holy Water.

Since World War II? I’d go back further than that. The only Presidents who could possibly be worse than Obama are James Buchanan, Ulysses Grant, and perhaps Andrew Johnson. Maybe I’ve missed a few.
