Big storm to hit Okinawa Japan.
1. THIS IS THE LATEST BULLETIN ON TYPHOON NEOGURI (08W). AS OF 06/1930L, OKINAWA IS IN TROPICAL CYCLONE CONDITION OF READINESS 3. AT 06/1500L, TYPHOON NEOGURI WAS LOCATED 18.5 DEGREES NORTH AND 131.4 EAST, WHICH IS 520 NAUTICAL MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF KADENA. IT HAD WINDS GUSTING TO 145 KNOTS NEAR ITS CENTER AND WAS MOVING TO THE WEST-NORTHWEST AT 15 KNOTS.
2. IF TYPHOON NEOGURI CONTINUES TO MOVE AS FORECAST, DAMAGING WINDS OF 50 KNOTS OR GREATER (SUSTAINED) ARE ANTICIPATED TO OCCUR FROM 08/0900L TO 08/2000L. THE STRONGEST WINDS ON OKINAWA ARE EXPECTED TO BE SUSTAINED AT 105 KNOTS WITH 130 KNOT GUSTS AT 08/1400L.
3. REMARKS: SEA CONDITION WEST ALL CLEAR / EAST CAUTION IS IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THE MAX PRECIPITATION EXPECTED IS 8-10 INCHES.

I sat through several CAT 5 super typhoons on Okinawa. Everything is made of concrete, and home foundations have pile-driven I-beams as the cornerstones. Lots of wind, but little damage.

Our home was right on the sea wall (with the concrete breakers shaped like jacks). Gate 1, East China Sea.

Yes. Located in Chatan, Okinawa. There are a few around the island, but no large wind farms. This one didn’t work most of the time. And they locked it down during the typhoons.
Foster Gate 1? When were you there?
I was there from 2002 to 2008.
