Your premise, common enough, is that you can define what constitutes "damage" to blacks better than they can do themselves.

The parsimonious, and correct, answer is that blacks have added up the pluses and minuses and concluded (correctly, IMO) that "Obama" (or whatever his name really is) has given them more, much more, than he has cost them.

Black Americans are like sheep being led to the slaughter. They are locked in a time warp, held in economic slavery and forever bondaged and chained by their very own....supposed leaders like Obama, the CBC and the NAACP!!! Nothing new,,,,Muslim Blacks like Obama, in Sub-Sahara Africa have been doing this for thousands of years. Ya think slavery is dead. Forget it!!! Truth is, African-Americans are adrift-at-sea, both economically and politically,,,and they will be that way from many years to come. They are truly, the only American group of minorities that stays depressed and static as time marges on. Hispanics, Asians, Indians, etc have left them standing alone at an abandoned train station, cause by actions of their own hands!! Sad...but true. Many other American have been slaves of one kind or another throughout our great history...and have left it behind to live the American dream. Not so with African-Americans. Gotta take a good look in the mirror, folks!!! Obama is poison for ya all!!!

83% approve of him and 17% disapprove. Big difference in approval ratings and actual voting. The great majority of the 17% that disapprove of him would still vote for him because pigmentation trumps policy considerations among that particular constituency.

I remember discussing the candidate Obama with a couple of black colleagues at work. One was a legal immigrant from Trinidad and one was a legal immigrant from Nigeria. They were over the moon with the notion of a black candidate for President. I patiently laid out for them all the caveats about that candidate--Rev. Wright's hateful sermons, questionable relationships with known criminal elements such as Ayers, lack of participation in his Illinois senate position, lack of a believable birth certificate, etc. etc. NOTHING penetrated their skulls. Absolutely nothing. Confronted with facts, they continued to be mesmerized that a BLACK man could run for president. That's all they kept repeating. They were not receptive to a critical analysis of him, they were so in love with the whole concept of him.

Therefore, given that the overwhelming majority of black voters still think Obama is the cat's meow, I would have to conclude that (a) the majority of black voters are not critical thinkers, (b) they are themselves racists, voting for a candidate on the basis of his race vs. qualifications (not that McCain was very qualified) and (c) they are easily led by the prospect of free stuff, which is not really free---somebody's paying for it and very likely that somebody is all of us taxpayers.
