When we had a more orderly immigration program, we first had Ellis Island and later medical exams for legal visas.

Bad time to have some of those disease in the US. The Asian tiger mosquito can spread some of those including denge fever. Those mosquitos are as far north as NJ. You will know that mosquito by its ridiculous size and aggression. Its 4-5 times the size of native species and they are known disease spreaders.

I knew a Japanese woman who married a U.S. Marine and came to the U.S. with him. Before she was allowed into the U.S. she had to pay for a HIV test and prove that she did not have aids. Different rules for different ethnic groups.

How can Central American children be bringing Ebola from Africa? I am more worried about American visitors returning from Africa or Africans visiting legally and arriving by airplane. A family friend once came back from a visit to Russia. We exchanged glad-to-see-you hugs, and ended up with scabies since the hotel used cold water to wash sheets. Also, I believe dengue is spread by mosquito bites, not person to person, but will check to be sure.
