Jasmine Curry, a mother of five and five months pregnant, lay dead along Chicago’s Dan Ryan expressway Wednesday morning, the latest victim in Chicago’s epidemic of gunfire with a bullet to the head.
It was uncommon that she was shot on the expressway, not uncommon that someone from her neighborhood was killed. In fact, Jasmine was not even the first person in her family to be gunned down.
The gangland vendettas raged on the South and West Sides of Chicago over the holiday weekend. Thirteen people were killed, another 58 wounded as the bullets flew. Police were fired on and in at least five incidents, they returned fire, killing two.
From the basement of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church,Rev. Jesse Jackson inferred that city leaders in Chicago could not handle the violence on their own and federal resources were needed to control the flow of illegal weapons.
“We’re crying out, the FBI must intervene,” he said.
Jackson also demanded federal funds to rebuild the blighted communities that are incubators for the gun violence.
Like Jackson, Mayor Rahm Emanuel also appealed for federal resources. Also like Jackson, he stopped short of pointing directly at President Obama.

More government! Their answer is to bring in federal law enforcement and to get a financial bailout from the federal government or the UN. Their answer to too much government is more government. Welcome to socialism. Take a good look because our nation is treading this same path.
Of course, the answer could not be lowering taxes, decreasing the size and scope of the city government, deregulating and allowing Chicago citizens to defend themselves. This approach would give responsible citizens a much needed opportunity to rebuild and take back their communities. Could the American way be the answer? Surely not according to Rahm Emanuel and Jesse Jackson!

Want to lower the crime rate in the minority community ? Bring back the two-parent household that the left worked so hard to destroy via the welfare state. Participatory fatherhood should be venerated again, and until that happens, nothing will change.

Well, guess it depends on what the definition of “is” is. Detroit reached its population peak of 1.9M about the mid 50’s. Population now is about 0.7M and continues to decline. During this same time period white population has shifted from 87% to about 10%. Sooo, I’m thinking that the white population is in the minority now?
Jesse Jackson is the main part of the problem. He refuses to admit that the biggest part of the problem is that blacks are violent....and the attitude needs to change. Stop whining over whitey
Disproportionate black crime is not a new thing.
Back in the 50’s one of the things it was blamed on was failure to integrate.
We certainly wouldn’t want to hold blacks themselves responsible that would be ‘racist’. Instead we will just continue to spiral ever downward making excuse after excuse.

There’s a project right now dumping a load of money into south side Chicago to improve the waterfront with elite apartments and restaurants - but it sits up against the #20 worst neighborhood in the US...the city is evicting people out of those neighborhoods and giving them vouchers to move further west into neighborhoods that’s aren’t so bad...the working people with families and other nice things - will be forced to move out because crime will go up - an no one will want to stay there...

They are doing this at the old US Steel yard and attempting to revitalize this area and push crime out of Chicago...@ a cost of $4 billion just for this area...the city is already in $68 Billion in debt - costing each tax payer $23,000+ owed to the city govt just to cover this debt...ridiculous!

The city's greater downtown business community will be all over Rahm like white on rice when the folks from the 'burbs stop driving into the city for the shopping, the restaurants, the theater, the opera, the festivals, the two major league ball parks, the zoo, the museums, the tours, etal.
Years ago, rocks and bricks were dumped from the walkway overpasses onto the cars streaming into the city....till screened fences were installed overhead. But not much can be done to stop bullets raining down from above....or being fired from the car next to you on the expressway or from snipers in the buildings along the way.
Without the considerable and sustained income from suburbanites, the Windy City will dry up and blow away....like Detroit.
Gun control is the hot issue at the moment....but I posit that the re-installation of capital punishment in Illinois would send a pretty strong signal to the gangs and low-life that infest the city's south side.
The death sentence was put on moratorium by former Illinois governor and ex-convict, George Ryan in 1999. Re-installation may not be the total answer (if there is one), but it might help.
It has to be added here that both the city of Chicago government and the State of Illinois legislature are in the deathgrip of the Democrat Party/Chicago Machine. To boot, the state and city are financially bankrupt.....and, putting everything together, one can almost predict with certainty which way the Land O' Lincoln is headed.

All one has to do is watch The First 48 to see this problem is not just a Chicago problem, it’s endemic across the country and growing.
Throwing money at the problem doesn’t and never will as long as all we are seeing are MOTHERS wailing over the body of their dead fatherless children.
