The Signs of Dictatorship
American Thinker ^ | 7/11/2014 | Eileen F. Toplansky

Posted on 07/11/2014 3:38:23 AM PDT by markomalley

As is often bemoaned by scholars, genuine classical education in American schools is virtually non-existent. Whereas 100 years ago, university students learned Greek and Latin, today, remedial math and English instruction is the norm.

Yet, if people had a glimpse of Solon who lived approximately from 640-560 BCE, they would take to heart his warning about the "Signs of Dictatorship."

The power of hail and snow springs from a cloud,

and thunder from the fire of lightning.

Strong men destroy a city, and a tyrant

enslaves a people through their ignorance.

A ship once out of port is hard to capture:

know this now before it is too late.

Near the end of his life, Solon warned the citizens that Peisistratus, the general in the final war for Salamis and leader of northeastern Attica, was becoming tyrannical.  Yet Solon's warnings were ignored -- in fact, the people dismissed them as the ravings of a madman.  Solon responded with "[a] little time will show the citizens my madness. Yes, will show, when truth comes in our midst."  And, indeed, he was proven correct when Peisistratus did show his true tyrannical colors.

Barack Hussein Obama consistently flouts American law, disregards the separation of powers, and seemingly could not care less about the swirling scandals surrounding him.  As of May 2014 there have been 23 executive alterations of Obama's own Affordable Care Act.  Chris Conover at Forbes highlights the egregious and unilateral changes to Obamacare when he explains that "[t]he Constitution and its carefully crafted system of checks and balances matters. If President Obama disagrees with a statutory provision enacted into law (and that he signed!), the proper course of action is to go back to Congress and get the law changed."

There is no US Congress.

There are self-serving EXEMPT WHORES who are traitors
to the US Constitution, who make LAWS for others
from which they (and their Moslems) are IMMUNE and EXEMPT.

The EXEMPT US Congress is COMPLICIT with the loss of Law
and this previously healthy country. COMPLICIT.

The difference is that our Tyrant will be out of office in a couple of years.

Trickle Down Tyranny, his signature practice which employs thousand of local tyrants to sow his Saul Alinsky practices everywhere, will begin to fade away.

The final proof will happen when and if zer0 uses his legislation by fiat abuse of power to either allow his entry into the 2016 election, or more likely ban that election and with the backing of his. ‘New action army’ crown himself ‘Dear Leader’

I would like the Tea Party to take out a full age ad in the NY Times publicly apologizing to Germany for the Obama Administration’s spying on an ally. The ad should say that in no way does the Obama Administration represent the sentiment of the vast majority of Americans and that we offer our sincere regrets.

This is the tactic we ought to employ: publicly disavowing that the Obama Administration represents the people of the United States. We ought to do this via an open letter to the governments and people of Central America saying that we do want immigration but that illegal immigration is not good for the people of Latin America and is not good for the USA.

The difference is that our Tyrant will be out of office in a couple of years. True… but unfortunately, a precedent is set. “A ship once out of port is hard to capture…” doesn’t necessary have to just refer to the tyrant currently in power.

Our Constitution was supposed to protect us.

Let me say it again.

Our Constitution was supposed to protect us.

Our sons are being murdered in the military (Benghazi, Extortion 17, and the bloody Rules of Engagement), our administration is arming the enemy, our allies are being thrown under the bus and spied on (the info probably went to Russia with Snowden), the radical progressives are taking guns, the media is absolutely useless (why there is not a pure conservative basic tv station I will never know), and here we sit.

Mark Levin, we want our government back now. Does not our Constitution protect us? Is it worthless? Is it a joke? Did my son take an oath to support and defend a fading piece of paper? Did my brother die defending a fading piece of paper?

They print laws and EOs like they print fiat money. Each piece of law has to be backed by monetary enforcement and causes monetary self restriction.

The walls are propping up left and right.

Indeed. The Frankfurt school and the IRS abomination are on par with the equalitarian view Germany wants to enjoy with America playing by their socialist rules. This spying scandal is a joke on us.

It’s obvious that for the last six years Obama has been attempting to destroy capitalism in America, and the Republican party. Overtly.

He has underestimated capitalism. After 250 years of freedom, American capitalism is truly like a weed, very difficult to eradicate completely. The private sector has absorbed the many blows to credit, capital formation, and onerous regulations by adjusting. By working harder, by improving productivity, and with a huge, immeasurable underground economy.

The Republican party meanwhile, is in the process of being altered from the ground up, by the people. What is forming as a reaction to Obama’s policies is most certainly not dead.

This leaves the Democratic Party as potential collateral damage.

When he goes around Congress, he goes around both parties. Obama shows no more loyalty to the Dem Party than he does to Israel or the UK.

I’m not so sure it isn’t deliberate. For Obama to become dictator, the Democratic party must be destroyed too.

When Democrats finally realize what he’s doing to them, it will be too late.

No, it won’t fade away. Every level of every government agency is infested with Progressive lefties who are dedicated to their commom agenda. The EPA, for instance will not just fade away when Obama leaves.

I don’t think baraq will do that.
We will probably have an election on 2016, but after that, baraq just won’t leave. I think he will force a situation where someone will have to forceably make him leave.
