Issa subpoena storm intensifies
The Hill ^ | 07/16/14 | Justin Sink

The director of the White House's political office defied a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, setting up a new high-profile fight between the White House and House Republicans.

Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said administration claims that White House political director David Simas was immune from testimony were “absurd” and “deeply disturbing.”

“The American people have a right to know if their tax dollars are being used for political activity,” Issa said, adding that Simas's testimony was “critically important” to his investigation into whether the political office had violated the Hatch Act, a law prohibiting executive branch employees from engaging in partisan campaign activity.

Send the Crapitol Police to the White House, accompanied by TV cameras, to arrest this SOB. They aren’t even attempting to hide their comtempt for the Congress with the transparent fig leaf of “national security” like Nixon did. Give the SOB a free stay in the Graybar Hotel and see what happens the next time a subpoena comes down the pike.

They are giving the House the finger. They DO realize that, don’t they?

Would that it were that easy. I’m really happy that Issa is keeping the heat on them, because the more he persists, the more is revealed - things that I think even he didn’t expect.

If we take the Senate, we can talk about impeachment. Otherwise, it’s all blather. Clinton was impeached by the House and happily served out his term, with obviously no damage to his ability to rake in huge amounts of money for his speaking gigs. In fact, it made him even more of a celebrity among Dems.

Clinton’s most serious chargeable crime was perjury, and it seemed to involve him alone (and probably the lovely Hillary, who of course had her own legal problems that she got away with). But in the case of the Obama WH, many people have committed many crimes that have violated statutes up one side and down the other. Most of these people cannot be “impeached” because they’re not elected officials.

They must be investigated and referred for charges or, within the limited power of the House, charged in House proceedings. The big problem is that the DOJ, which would oversee criminal prosecution, is under Eric Holder, who would kill his own mother for Obama.

Well... hopefully another president will find it more advisable to go after the former president’s lackeys, unlike another guy I can think of.

A new Justice Department head should have plenty of work to keep a division of his men busy for years.

That is satire, I assume. Issa's committees are where issues go to die. Issa is like the playground wimp who whines and complains and goes and tells on people for being bad. What follows from these types is.....nothing. They just feel good about tattling without taking any risks.

How about having some of these people arrested? How about getting the HOR to defund something, say AF1 and Obama's vacation expenses? WHAT HAS ISSA ACTUALLY DONE EXCEPT LET OBAMA OFF THE HOOK, EVERY TIME?

One can't help but think Issa is a plant from the other side....raise a little outrage, then drop the issue.

I read in an earlier thread, that The House “Jail” has not been used since 1937.
I think Issa should get some crews down there to renovate it and publicly state that it’s being readied for use. Might make the hairs on the backs of the necks of some of the perps stand on end?

Renovate it? Don’t do a darned thing to it. If it’s moldy and grimy, so be it. Just fill it with the contemptibles. No warning. Just arrest them.

How are the issues dying when Issa turns up something new every day?

The problem is that the press is refusing to report this. The only place anybody would ever hear about it is on this site or similar ones.

The only thing that got the investigations of Nixon going was that the press and the left hated him and every second of it was publicized, both in print and in broadcast.

Get the press to report on these hearings (front page every day, as everything was with Nixon) and you’d see something different.

Issa has not let Obama off the hook, because he hasn’t even gotten to Obama. He’s working his way there and I think he’s had pretty good results.

I can’t help but think that people here who complain about the single effective investigation that is going on are actually plants trying to halt it.

” If it’s moldy and grimy, so be it.”
In my mind, I agree But I think making a public statement about readying it for occupants is a nice little, thinly-vieled threat. Specially if there’s news coverage, pics, and maybe a viral youtube of the work being done!

In written testimony, OSC head Carolyn Lerner said that based on a review of correspondence between Issa and the White House, “it appears that the White House adhered to OSC guidance in determining the scope of activity for the office” and were “consistent with Hatch Act restrictions.”

Meet The Fabulous Lerner Girls, Carolyn & Lois!!!

They know nothing can or will be done. The Marxists are teflon since they have an unlimited supply of race cards, the MSM is always at their six, the DOJ is in friendly hands and if worse comes to worse there is always that ‘Presidential Pardon’ available. The Republicans lost their chance on the day they didn’t challenge his first election in the Electoral College. That was the time to stop the coup d’ etat. They didn’t and now all of civilization will pay for their cowardice.

Has anyone lost their job?

Has anyone gone to jail?

Has anyone been charged with criminal activity?

Has the HOR defunded anything they're involved with?

Committee meetings have been useless. No one is afraid of Issa. He can't even get people to testify under subpoena unless they feel like it.

Yes, I agree. I watched in horror as Nancy Pelosi started wildly clapping and cheering before Cheney even had a chance to ask for any objections. Even though, I believe decorum dictates that any objections are to be filed in writing prior to the actual vote tally, I think he still should have asked as part of standard procedure.

Sad Sad Sad, the day America died.

“immune from congressional compulsion"

Headline?

Occupation of Capital Beltway University campus continues
Radicals occupying CBU buildings sneer at campus oversight committees
-- "We're occupiers! You don't have authority over us! We don't work for you. Power to the people!"

Washington, D.C. It too eight years last time to oust the radicals' occupation of the buildings on Capital Beltway University. Now these aged 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brats and their ideological litters are again occupying the buildings for six years!

It's time for the campus authorities to stop funding the operations of the departments occupied.

I really, really hate to write this. But I’m beginning to feel like this is a circus set up to amuse us.

If you or I ignored a Federal Subpoena, what would happen?

No difference, legally, between you and me and Simas and Lerner (now, both of them) and etc.

Hello Issa?? Arrest these treasonous bastards! You’ve got plenty of reason.
