Netanyahu's office says purpose of mission is to destroy terror tunnels and seriously harm the infrastructure of Hamas and other terrorist organizations in Gaza.

DF ground forces began to move into the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening, the prime minister's office confirmed.

The purpose of the operation was to destroy the Gazan terror tunnels leading to Israel, according to a statement released by the prime minister's office.

May the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob bless Israel in this endeavor. We pray that the Israeli soldiers will have supernatural wisdom and knowledge, that angels will guard them on every side, that their actions will be fruitful for Israel. We ask you, dear Lord, that you confound Israel’s enemies and destroy them utterly. Make their knees quake with fear, not so much of the soldiers, but of you, Most Holy One. Let Israel’s enemies know that the one true God is protecting her. Let the enemies’ bombs and bullets miss their target and fall harmlessly to the ground, we pray. And let the Israelis know that it is God, He who neither slumbers nor sleeps in protecting Israel, who has done these things. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Prayers for my son who is in Gaza. I will never understand why Israel didn't even shut down their electricity or fuel and blast Gaza to rubble BEFORE sending in boys like my son. I'd like to see the soldiers come out...now and then revert to carpet bombing instead. If Israel behaved like Putin, Bush or A-Sisi (Egypt), the place would be rubble by now. Again, prayers for my boy...

From the Times of Israel:
http://www.timesofisrael.com/hamass-war-is-ultimately-with-egypt/

“Hamas’s demands in the Cairo talks make it increasingly clear why the organization went to war. Hamas, it seems, initiated an escalation with Israel when its target was really Egypt. Hamas may be aiming its missiles at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, but Israel was ultimately a hostage in the Islamists’ effort to get closer to Cairo.

Hamas wants this in order to bring an end to the blockade on Gaza, open the Rafah Border Crossing, and in many ways to ensure its own survival.”

and,

“Egypt rejected the idea immediately, as long as Hamas stands on the Palestinian side of the crossing. But Cairo has emphasized that, if there are Palestinian Authority forces under Mahmoud Abbas deployed there, it has no objection to opening the crossing.”

Neither Israel nor Egypt wants the expense and difficulty of occupying Gaza, but setting up a future regime change to a competing gang (Fatah’s Palestinian Authority) that will extra-judicially hunt down and kill Hamas operatives, like Hamas did to them seven years ago - priceless. The rest is shaping the battlefield and influencing opinion.

Actually the total piece included the words “and seriously harm the infrastructure of Hamas”

That is a vague but broad statement allowing all sorts of activity once within Gaza. The effort is apparently not limited to the narrow objective of tunnel elimination

Times of Israel reports:

“An IDF soldier was killed on Friday in northern Gaza, becoming the first military fatality since Israel launched a ground offensive in the Palestinian enclave Thursday night.

Sergeant Eitan Barak, 20, from Herzliya, was critically wounded during an operation against rocket launchers in the area of Beit Hanoun and died of his wounds before he could be evacuated. Four other soldiers were injured, one moderately and the rest lightly.

There were unconfirmed reports that Barak may have been killed in a friendly-fire incident, but the circumstances behind his death were not immediately clear.

“There were a number of events during the night,” military spokesman General Moti Almoz told Army Radio. “The incident in which a soldier was killed, we are checking the circumstances now and when we know them all, we shall release the findings.””

Yes and a bunch of green houses too. “we hate jews so we are not going to use greenhouses they made to grow food for our starving refugees.”

Sheesh the limited muzzie/pali mindset.

Fuel air explosives are probably the best bang per pound of crap that has to be carried and emplaced.

But how can you disperse it optimally down a tunnel 1/4 to 1 mile long?

A motorized cart (or the new guy, after some clearing procedure) emplaces bucket-sized charges connected by a fiber optic command link?

A series of line charge sprayers?

A big fan?

A slow spray until calculations or sensors indicate she’s ready to blow?

Yeah, that’s the problem. I suppose some sort of high pressure sprayer and fans could get it quite a ways in and then when she blows the shock wave would affect people a lot farther down than just the area of the explosion. Especially in such a confined space.

This was the goal of D-Day regarding Germany.

You can not humiliate someone who thinks in his deluded mind he will be sent to allah.... of his family will get big money for dieing fighting against the jews.
They are animals and raised to be like this since they were born.
Just eliminate them from any society and the gene pool.

yes but that was the culture back then. they were also animal lovers (in the carnal way) and really believed in the vestal virgins. Bleeding was accepted medical practice.
We should have come further by now.
Homosexuality, though accepted is just stupid and perverse.

not necessary if it is heavier than air and fuel vapors are, or could be bonded with something else so they would be... ) so no need for complicated process to disperse the gas. All that is needed is the fuel vapors and a spark.
