Michelle Obama takes credit for more people drinking water

You can thank first lady Michelle Obama for those extra empty water bottles in the office recycle bin.

That's because she is getting -- and taking -- credit for a 3 percent surge in bottled water sales, all due to her “Drink Up” campaign aimed at getting Americans to shift from soda to plain water.

The International Bottled Water Association told us that the first lady cited the sales increase based on a new study from Nielsen Catalina Solutions. They said the campaign boosted sales 3 percent, and nearly $1 million.

“When the Drink Up campaign was launched last year, it had one simple goal – to get kids and families excited about drinking water,” the first lady said, according to an association release. “And today, less than a year later, we know that water sales jumped nearly three percent among people who saw Drink Up ads.”

Never heard about that campaign. I refill a few plastic water bottles and put the in them fridge if I want cool water when working outside. Normally I use ice and tap water.

I, for one, do not mind admitting that since the Wookie has been First Lady I have had to increase my consumption of water just to cope with their ‘socialist’s gone wild’ routine.

Of course, I do insure that my water is flavored with an appropriate mixture of malted barley, hops and some yeast...

She’s taking credit for something that Boehner started years ago?

As a general rule a woman's butt should not be wider than her husbands shoulders.

So, people are drinking more bottled water. The plastic bottles are made from oil products - no? Obama and the EPA aren’t for more oil production in the US - where’s the oil coming from to create the bottles? I’m sure the environmentalists aren’t going to be too happy with all the extra plastic going in the landfills - - or does everyone recycle the bottles?

I drink a lot of tap and filtered water (at work) every day - - never heard of this Drink Up! campaign.

Well you have to admit her campaign to get the sun to rise in the east and set in the west has been a complete success.

She’s an idiot. The reason more people are drinking water is because of her husband’s economy. We got rid of beer/wine except on weekends, all sodas gone. Milk is the only thing we have to buy due to the young kids, and we are scaling back on that.

Is she taking credit that I am smart enough to buy a water filter and filter my own water? Thus saving a ton of money! I dislike the chlorine taste in our water, do not think it is healthy. When we travel our filtered water goes with us in gallon jugs. Or in the ice chest in reusable bottles.

I have bottles of water in the fridge for grab and go, other wise use the fridge filtered water. Have a Brita Water pitcher to filter my coffee water. Want to put a under sink one in the kitchen as soon as I can find the right one. It’s just the one tap. Don’t see the need for it in the bathrooms.

I think we should be supporting Michelle on this. Conservative media should run some articles about drinking more water and leaving the Coca-Cola(Amnesty Cola) on the shelf.

I buy bottled water for the bottles and do the same thing. My favorite drink is the powdered packs of Snapple sweet tea.

I get 25 cent bottled water at work if I want it, and save the plastic bottles. Unlike the 4th of July parade when the city charges an outrageous $1.50 per bottle.
