Of the more than 1,100 Army captains notified last month their military careers would soon end, 87 were deployed worldwide and 48 were serving in Afghanistan at the time, Army officials said Wednesday.
The Army has been talking for months about the need to separate the captains as well as more than 500 majors this summer as part of the broad Army drawdown, but it’s the first time details have emerged about the sobering business of delivering pink slips to troops in harm’s way.

If I didn’t know better, I would think Obama was trying to destroy the U.S. military.
And at the same time, he is out inciting violence in other countries around the world.
There is nowhere Obama has touched that a disaster isn’t left behind. A disaster far worse than before he meddled.
He said he would fundamentally transform America. At least he told the truth about something.

I was in the 82 Abn Div in 1973 when 90 Captains in that one division got pick slips (RIF'd as it was called) (Reduction in force). My roommate, also a Captain in 73 was deployed to Vietnam for his second tour. At least they waited for him to return to Ft Bragg before they notified him. Only a few days later I might ad.
Though I didn't get pink slipped, I was amazed and deeply saddened at how many combat veterans, fantastic company commanders, and brothers in arms were shown the door.
It took the Army 10 + years to recover from that self created short sighted mess the political class created. But then again, the welfare program and other entitlement vote buying schemes kept growing just like today.
Dummies never bothered to ask what transform meant. In his 2008 campaign, he lied his way across America.
I am pretty darn tired of this forced suicide we are all living. My 40 year old niece called me crying the other day about what she sees happening. It is sad.

The frightening thing is that Obama is lazy and not very bright. Imagine what it will be like when we face someone as maliciously evil as Obama but with more energy and ability. Frightening!

Probably more golf - and that would be a good thing. I have never complained about Obama’s vacations or his recreation and never will. That is the only time he is not actively making things even worse for America.
It’s a huge mistake to be downsizing our military at this time. We are going to need it, sooner than later I think. As a Vietnam vet who rose to the prestigious rank of “Speedy 4” during my three year tenure I was not personally affected by the RIF process. In fact, when my enlistment was nearing end, I was calked in by my CO for his obligatory reup speech; we both had a chuckle and that was that. But, about the high number of captains being RIF’ed, captain is the grade just prior to field grade of major which is the demarcation line for the army when deciding whether or not an individual is career material or not. If ones evaluations have been mediocre, passed over, etc, then that officer is at high risk of being RIF’ed. Also, If said officer still has a reserve commission and hasn’t been made regular army he/she is at risk. However, being notified while serving in a combat zone is uncalled for. With everyone’s files now loaded in a computer database this dirt of thing should be easy enough to screen for.

But to a dedicated patriotic soldier or Marine it’s not a job - it’s a way of life.
How many will want to put their lives on the line and take a chance on being shot, killed or become disabled while waiting for their termination papers?
Look at the numbers here, and then look at the overall Manning Levels and calculate the loss of "Soldiers". The Social Engineer in the White House needs more Domestic Money and can't Print his way out of the Recession.
