At the Television Critics Association conference on July 22, PBS and “American Experience" announced it will produce and broadcast a new biography focused on Walt Disney. “Walt Disney” will be a four-hour, two-night film focused on the life of the American icon. The biography will premiere in fall 2015.

PBS and American experience? Sounds like a hit piece. Don’t be surprised if it shows Disneys supposed antisemitism or other leftist tripe.

He was a man of his time, who created or fostered great works of popular culture with a lasting impact on the whole world. Billions of people have a common frame of cultural reference thanks to his ability to use archetypes from European folk tales and turn them into universal stories.

Well, that’s sort of my point. In Disney’s time it didn’t mean anything at all. It wasn’t even a word yet, and the state it describes was so universally accepted and adopted that it wasn’t necessary.
The term basically means an exaggerated dislike for homosexuals and homosexual-linked non-sexual behaviors out of a fear on the part of the homophobe that he may possess homosexual traits himself and therefore must accentuate his dislike for homosexuals in order to deflect attention from his anxiety that he may be one.

These days, "Homophobic" is a term applied to anyone who does not enthusiastically embrace and promote the gay agenda at every possible opportunity, and/or expresses support for traditional marriage.

if Walt Disney was anything he was an original Tea Party member; someone who fought the unions bare knuckles outside his studio because he knew they had communist influences....someone who was a Barry Goldwater conservative, so much so that when he received the Medal of Freedom Award from LBJ, Disney wore a Barry Goldwater pin on his lapel...

I think his anti-Semitism was of a type that was totally normal for his time and people in his economic class. But it existed. He was an active member of a number of openly anti-Semitic organizations, he included broadly drawn Jewish caricatures in his early shorts and he apparently had a flirtation with the Bund movement in the 1930s. None of these were exceptional for the time period. But in the light of subsequent history, what else can we call such affiliations?
And no, “I had Jews working for me” is not a free pass, any more than “some of my best friends are”
I was six when he died. My grandmother told me that he was called to Heaven to decorate the children’s area and entertain the kids.
