With The Law Ignored, Border Surge Turns Into A Tsunami

Amnesty: With word out about U.S. coddling of Central American illegal immigrants, Haitians and people from much farther abroad are flooding our shores to get their slice. This is what comes when politics trumps law.

Some of the strongest voices speaking in favor of amnesty for the latest flood of illegal immigrants from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, such as columnist George Will, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and the Catholic bishops, have used the hardship and mercy argument to scrap the law and permit the illegals to stay.

"The idea that we can't assimilate these 8-year-old 'criminals' with their teddy bears is preposterous," Will told Fox News on Sunday.

Pelosi likened illegals to "baby Jesus" and said she wanted to take some home (sounding as if she thought they were pets) while the Catholic bishops said America should accept them regardless of cost.

Mercy, in other words, is the argument, as if there's something unique about Central America, a group of countries that are all democracies with citizens who are empowered to vote to change their economic conditions if they want to.

The insistence on special treatment for Central Americans over those who follow the law and wait in line to immigrate is a preoccupation of many of our elites. These are the very same people, as the late New York Timesman Scotty Reston put it, who will do anything for Latin America except read about it.

The hard reality is, if the law is suddenly rendered null based on the treacly photos of cherubic toddlers and their moms, it's not going to be just Central Americans at our door.

The Central Americans may well be just the tip of the illegal flood.

The first plausible GOP presidential candidate to run on building the San Diego fence all the way to the Gulf in one year after his election, will win in a landslide.

Every person who says anything OTHER than immediate deportation, regardless of age, to the home country should e required to house, feed and support between 2 and 5 illegals — and NO tax subsidy.

If that were the case you would see charter flights 24 hours a day on the 1/2 hour until all are gone.

I agree...If the fence would have been built we wouldn’t have this mess now, even 0bama couldn’t justify opening the gates to let these illegals in.

How many rounds of golf would build this fence? If that doesn’t cover it, then why not use the vacations to marthas vineyard and hawaii. Surely that would cover some of it, wouldn’t it?

This is what comes when politics trumps law.

Actually, it was the free stuff that trumped law. As long as the takers are getting their free abortions, free birth control, homosexual marriage, etc, they don't care who else the government panders to.

Unfortunately, the only way I can see to stop this is to abandon my "buy American" beliefs and "starve the beast". Maybe make an exception for products made in red states.

Anybody have any other ideas?

I have heard from a reliable source that they now have solid proof that that this was orchestrated by our own government and planned well in advance. The church charities that are housing them receive huge subsidies from the federal government. They are all in on it together. They are church in name only.

The end of the United States as a sovereign, constitutional republic. We are becoming a third-world dictatorship.

I agree...We can’t continue to take unlimited numbers of illegals, kids or not.

Will is a skillful wordsmith. He once was adept at the concise and witty skewer of the idiot Left. Now he just mails it in.

Yup, let the socialists live with unsubsidized socialism for a while and watch how fast they convert to "nativism". Let poor liberal open border supporters take in one family with no taxpayer input and let guys like Bill Gates support hundreds of families.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

Live it to prove it liberals.

Nancy wants to take some home and let her Mexican staff take care of them while being paid by the taxpayer. If there was truly a press in this country a reporter would be camped out at her wine estate waiting for the kids to show up.

If I had the money I’d rent a bus, go to the barrio and pick up some Mexicans, tell them I’m taking them someplace where they’ll be rich then drop them off in front of Nancy’s house.

Those kids aren’t walking 1800 miles. Otherwise they’d be emaciated and wearing rags. They’d look like slaves in a Hollywood movie.
