First Amendment: Government's assault on religious liberty has hit a new low as the IRS settles with atheists by promising to monitor sermons for mentions of the right to life and traditional marriage.

A lawsuit filed by the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) asserted that the Internal Revenue Service ignored complaints about churches' violating their tax-exempt status by routinely promoting political issues, legislation and candidates from the pulpit.

Churches have been tax exempt since the founding of the country, the churches brought this on themselves. The threat of losing their 501-c3 is meaningless. There is no requirement that any church get a 501-c3, they have done it volintarily.

There are non 501-c3 churches, I know this to be true, I am a member of one. I won't attend a 501-c3 church.

Churches have the right to free speech. If it ever went to the Supreme Court, it would be unconstitutional. There have been many opportunities for liberals to challenge but they really don’t want it to go to court.

When government says we can’t talk about government sanctioned murder or government sanctioned sexual perversion, it is time to tell government to go back to hell where it came from.

This, however, means that black churches will have to stop being organs of the Democrat party

You know that is never going to happen. Either the Obungler will exempt them, or the black churches will play their trump, er, I mean their race card.

Most black “Churches “ are FRAUD churches anyway....NO WAY can they be “Christians” and support the evil they do...

Actually a LOT of churches in general fall into this category today.

This policy by the IRS is a direct violation of the first amendment. The state may not interfere with religious speech - the government is now going to decide what “religious” speech is permissible and that which is not.

The churches have the right to criticize the government if it or it’s actions, policies violate God’s law. Abortion, homosexuality, marriage are all moral issues according to Judeo-Christian Scriptures and teaching.

If a church were preaching setting off bombs or killing police officers (sounds like some Muslim groups or rappers) - that’s obviously against the
law - but now a church that speaks out against a moral issue that has become political is not permitted?

This must be challenged in the courts. Also, tying political speech to the tax exempt status of churches is a joke. Churches have been given that exemption since the beginning of our nation - before there ever was a personal income tax. This about control, not the tax exemption - that’s being used as intimidation - rather extortion - because most churches are 100 members or smaller. Removing the tax exemption will cause many small churches to lose their property as they will not be able to afford the property taxes, let alone the federal, state, and local taxes, etc.

But the vast majority of church attending people go to small churches - this about controlling religious people to shut up, to further control speech certain persons don’t like. What do atheists care about abortion or same-sex marriage? The New Atheists want all religious speech stopped inside and outside the walls of the church building.

Atheists are joining the militant homosexuals in doing what they can to undermine our sacred traditions and institutions. They are marching with the left to fundamentally transform this country.

In Cansda, preaching the Bible’s condemnation of homosexuality is a hate crime.

Remember that in most police states there are about five informants per government agent gathering dossiers on citizen activities.

Atheists infiltrating churches? Hmm... try thrusting a cross or crucifix into someone’s face if they look suspicious (i.e., liberal). A believer will be merely annoyed and ask you what’s the deal with the cross.

An atheist will recoil in horror just like a vampire.

Just a theory......
