Ben Carson Takes Major Step Toward Presidential Campaign Former neurosurgeon launches PAC, names national chairman

By John Solomon-August 1, 2014

Ben Carson, the former neurosurgeon turned conservative sensation, is taking a major step toward a 2016 presidential bid by forming a political action committee and selecting the man who would run his campaign, The Washington Times has learned.

Emerging from two-days of meetings with supporters in Palm Beach, Fla., Dr. Carson told the Times on Friday morning he has selected Houston businessman Terry Giles to be his 2016 campaign chairman should he run and approved the formation of a PAC called One Nation.

“Now is the time to start all of the appropriate exploration and investigation, and put down the structure that is necessary,” Dr. Carson said in a phone interview.

Asked about the likelihood he will run for president in 2016, Dr. Carson said: “I would say we are definitely a step or two closer than we were a year ago.”

Calling someone a liar is something I consider to be serious. Someone saying Carson is anti-2nd amendment is not a lie, it's a reasonable deduction based on Carson's own words. Now perhaps Carson thought about his position and realized it was incorrect, or perhaps he was convinced by a political consultant that he needed to hide his true feeling about the 2nd amendment in order to win the primary.

Obviously you are sure which might be the case, but that doesn't make me sure, nor would any words from a campaign employee. Having an opinion contrary to the plain text of the constitution isn't exactly rare anymore but it is practically inexcusable in my opinion. I will go so far as to check out the link and see if his moderation of view seems more like to be based on political ambition or ideological epiphany. Anyone can make a mistake, even a pioneering brain surgeon. (but the 2nd amendment is really clear so it's going to take one heck of a mea culpa)

Well, here it starts, folks. "The Road to a RINO" presidential candidate.

Flash-in-the-pan, inexperienced, no national organization, no money, political naif, flavor-of-the-week, nice lookin', unhardened-by-fire, out-of-nowhere rookie Ole Doc Ben is getting ready to throw his well-intentioned but inflated ego into the ring.

A few more like him and a true conservative on the primary ballots won't have a vote-wise-majority chance in hell over a candidate pushed by the unity of RNC megabucks, Rove, the Bushes, the Chamber, the media (primary only), big GOP pro-amnesty corporations, you get my drift.

And, judging by this thread, add to the list a goodly percentage of ga ga Carson conservatives who evidently learned nothing from the Dole, McCain and Romney fiascos....absolutely nothing.

It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to be President but if one volunteers, it might be a good thing to pay very close attention.

Well, one thing's for sure.President Carson would have a whole lot more credibility on the subject of health care than would a damn community organizer.

I like Ben Carson, and I think he could eventually be a good citizen president. If he runs for the nomination I don’t think he’ll win, and probably would vote for someone else, if there is someone I can stomach, because I don’t think he can win the general election. But like I said, if by some miracle he does get the nomination, I think he would be better than any Democrat, and we should rally around him. But only if he actually gets the nomination.

Gloria Allred has just been retained to go out and find any woman whom he’s ever had a cup of coffee with.

And Larry Flint has just offered a $1,000,000 reward for.....

As a Republican or 3rd party?
If 3rd party, it’s not good news. The anti-Dem side is already in trouble without splitting the votes.

I heard him in the flesh...... he has great speaking ability and knowledge.

I think he has been tapped by CEO’s fed up with Obamacare to run HHS or a special agency to cleanup the mess and get the health care industry righted, back on track and move forward.

Running for President gets him out there, allows him to deliver his pretty solid conservative message, and get name recognition.

There are many nitpickers here that are agin him that don’t even know his positions. Three wrong syllables and they sanctimoniously toss him out.

It didn’t take long for the “all my views or none” bunch to come out with the “perfect candidate” or lose routine.

Really? For some, one rumor or old comment is a deal-breaker?

While you all wait for the rainbows and skittle-crapping unicorns to bring you THE perfect candidate you’re handing the democrats the green light to complete their destruction. Then what will you have boys? No Republic, no Constitution, no choice of candidates, no freedoms; just tyranny.

You guys would have rejected Geo. Washington based on his difference in religious beliefs, or maybe one of the many rumors or mistruths that were spread about him, even by his Secretary of State, Thomas Jefferson.

Go ahead, reject every candidate that comes along from the first. Balkanize again, push for another loss because you don’t get everything you want.

Just make like the French and throw up the white flag now and get it over with.

agreed. the man is a great conservative, but not tested on the political stage..

they (MSM ) will rip him to shreds.

Not getting my support when there is Rand Paul, Cruz, Walker, etc.....

So far Cruz seems to best articulate conservative principles, IMO.

I respect your view. But on the issue of distorting the 2nd Amendment, I remind you that it has been continuously distorted for generations. Like our immigration crisis, we didn't get here overnight. it was a team effort.

So the question is, of all the cast of characters out there, who is the most likely person to bring us back? Sarah isn't running. Cruz doesn't look like he's making a move.

Dr Carson's character is unimpeachable. He is beyond reproach. And I would offer the written word (on his we page) weighs much heavier than one spoken interview.

Lastly, we need a guaranteed win in order to set the table for a comeback, for our own survival. If Carson takes 18% of the black vote, it's all over. The democrats cannot win, and they know it.

Add the hawkish Allen West as VP, and you will have forever gotten rid of the Dem's RACE CARD by putting two black men in the Executive Branch.

He seems like a good guy. No chance of winning the presidency as his first elected office. Looks like this is a brand building project for the good doctor.

Cruz or lose!

Dr Carson has no chance because of the color of his skin.
Not because of Republican voters but because he will not be able to pull any Democrat voters. If a black man is elected as a Republican and things improve in this Country it would destroy the Democrat Party. They and their media allies will fight this to the bitter end.......

A guy with his resume would never be taken seriously if he wasn’t black. Once again the conservative hunger to show we’re not racist trumps common sense. It’s the conservative version of affirmative action. Colin Powell, J.C. Watts, Herman Cain...

Up to this point in time I like the idea of Col. West on the ticket. But at the top with Dr. Carson as #2. But like I said that is up to this point in time. There is still time to sort it all out. Just don’t give us Jeb Bush or whatsisname that ran the last time.

I like the mass appeal Dr Carson has. West as a #2 is going to be faced with setting the table for an actual national debate on Islam being a legitimate religion. We should have had this debate before.

Now we have 8 million muslims here, and the only reason why they are peaceful is (1) they don't read the Quran nor understand hermeneutics, and (2) they are in the vast minority and have to gather demographically.

This is not optional. West has already taken apart Islam on youtube. He is also on the board of a Baptist seminary. He will have to defend his position.

I do think Dr Carson's camp is open to feedback from his base, on who should run with him.

good man, but to much truth, to much common sense. The general voter can’t handle that, reason why we have 5 million new democrats trying to get amnesty.
