Many major corn to ethanol processors are not in “Corn Country”,

There seems to be an ethanol plant in every other county along the rail lines in Western Kansas. I don't know why they wouldn't be similarly located in Iowa.

The economics of the business would seem to favor plant location adjacent to the raw material, since that would also be where the by-product (animal feed) was largely consumed.

Perhaps, you were referring to headquarters locations rather than plant locations.

I’m sick of this “Iowa” meme...no one pays attention or cares. They can eat their corn subsidies and vote Dem forever. Don’t they mostly do that now anyway?

Same for our centuries old (slight exxageration) control of the sugar industry that drove candy manufacterers to go elsewhere like Canada and then shift to the high fructose corn (more waste of corn) syrup that drives the left nuts too.

I’m sure in OK. There is only one place where I live south of Nashville that has non-ethanol gasoline. Actually call their station ‘Pure’ or something like that.

Another reason ethanol is a net waste of energy is that it can only be carried by truck or rail. It can’t move through a pipeline.

It’s not good for smaller engines. It can kill small mowers, home sized riding mowers, chainsaws, etc

I’d bet a lot of politicians are somehow invested in those subsidized companies. These scumbags are the biggest inside traders on the planet. They need to go to jail.

I’ve been telling my sister (a doctor) she ought to write a book. The title could be: What Michelle Obama Doesn’t Know about Nutrition Could Fill a Book.

There’s one of those Nanny-State PSAs on the radio, with a woman who sounds just like Moochelle, pondering what to serve for dinner. You know...”heart-healty oil” instead of butter, “whole grains,” etc.

The whole food fraud racket is driven by an ocean of money, yours and mine, and farmers, and executives, and congresscritters are all swimming in it.

Do not get me started on turning working rail lines into useless bicycle paths on the tax payer dime.

In our suburban area which is bursting at the seams we had a rather busy street which was two lanes in each direction. So we had four lanes until our city fathers put a left turn lane all the way down the middle even though there is no where to turn left into, took half a lane on either side and made it into a bike lane and we now have just one lane for auto traffic in each direction. Took me three lights to get through one intersection. Last time I’m driving down that street. Just dumb, dumb, dumb!

My husband will not allow it in any of our cars, mowers, ATV’s, etc....never. We use only real gas, which is plentiful where we live.

Where is that?

The ethanol mixture has not damaged my vehicles but it has played hell with small engines such as yard equipment, my pressure sprayer etc.

It really pis--s me off that I pay more at the pump for a gasoline with ethanol in it that has less energy per gallon in it than "real" gasoline. My cost is up and my miles per gallon are down.

Ethanol is a waste of corn...

I must disagree with you. The best use of ethanol is practiced in Kentucky and Tennessee. They put it in charred oak barrels in a cool warehouse. Twelve years later they take it out, put it in bottles and call it Jack Daniels, Makers Mark, Ezra Brooks, Jim Beam etc. I then buy it and sure as hell do not pour it into my cars gas tank.

“My cost is up...”

As well as costs on anything that is related to farming/ranching (wheat, beans, milk, meat - all up due to ethanol crops).

Oh, and anything that relies on trucking.

We live in a small town in Oklahoma, nearest big city is Tulsa. Many little gas stations sell real gas. It does cost more but in the long run is worth it.

Beside Corn and the ConAgra Lobby, what good is Iowa?

I need to be able to boycott something. I am sure their tourist dollars are about zero.

Oh, there is the make believe baseball field. I stand corrected.

Ever eat bacon? Beef? Chicken? Use banking or insurance?

If you want to rely on Ethanol, destroy garden motors, waste food, then yes I can watch your corn mountain grow.

Raise my own beef chickens and USAA for banking and Insurance.

Eat your Modified field corn and feel good about it.

If Iowa was to become a giant sink hole, I for one would not miss it.
