A Series Of Chafing Dishes

At one time, the United States was the “Great Melting Pot,” the only nation on Earth where people from all backgrounds, nationalities, races, sexual orientations, pretty much any configuration of human being you can think of, came together under the banner “American.”

People from every corner of the planet wanted to move here, throw themselves into that pot, become Americans and melt themselves into all the opportunity that word offered. That’s no longer the case. Thanks to the progressives’ “divide and conquer” electoral strategy, the melting pot has been thrown away and replaced with a series of chafing dishes.

People are no longer individuals to be treated based on who they are. They are their skin color, their heritage, their genitals and what they do with them. We have become a nation of hyphenates segregated by political leaders in a cynical attempt to pit us against each other to solidify their grip on power.

This racist and, yes, evil political tactic has been in the works for years, but it has been perfected in the Obama years. Any criticism of President Obama, no matter the source or how valid, is ignored by the progressives in major media or written off as racist.

Don’t like the government seizing control of the health care system? You’re a racist. Remember how some progressives claimed protestors hurled racist slurs at black members of Congress on their way to cast their Obamacare vote? The late, great Andrew Breitbart offered $100,000 to anyone who could offer proof of this. Dozens of people filmed and recorded the members on their way to the Capitol. Yet the reward remains unclaimed.

Still, the charge was made, and the charge stuck – not because it was true, but because the media wanted it to be true. It is still reported as fact by progressive outlets who either can’t prove it themselves or don’t want Breitbart’s money. Tells you all you really need to know.

There are countless examples of “ist,” “ism,” and “phobe” charges leveled against Americans for the crime of non-conformity to the progressive agenda. It’s now to the point there are more unicorns in captivity than Americans who haven’t been charged with some sort of bigotry in the Obama years.

And although Barack Obama generally has been the focal point of these charges, he’s smart enough not to make them himself. He dips his toe in the victimhood pool but no more. If the charges came from him, that would be whining. Besides, he knows they aren’t true.

Gutierrez was born and raised in Chicago. He moved to Puerto Rico after his freshman year in high school until college, but you’d never know it by listening to him. Much like Madonna developed an English accent after a few years of living in London—for which she was roundly and rightly mocked—Gutierrez speaks with a heavy Spanish accent. Whether it’s real or fake or embellished or whatever doesn’t much matter … Gutierrez is the force behind amnesty in Congress and wants to be seen as the Martin Luther King of the Latino community.

He represents the 4th district, which looks like a sneeze on a sheet of paper, drawn specifically to elect a Hispanic progressive. Electorally, he’s 10 feet tall and bulletproof. He wins in a walk every two years. He’s so untouchable he can openly say he doesn’t give a damn about his constituents or his oath of office because, “I have only one loyalty, and that’s to the immigrant community.”

He left out the word “illegal” in that quote. But either way, it’s telling about the character of the man. He doesn’t mean immigrants from Europe, Asia or Africa. He means Latin America only. He sees only ethnicity, and if yours doesn’t match his – thus enabling to travel down the road he sees as his path to glory and more political power – you don’t matter to him.

The Washington Post and the rest of the progressive media portray him as a “fierce fighter for immigration reform.” But he’s just David Duke wrapping himself in a Martin Luther King costume, and the progressive media loves him for it.

People with the ethnocentric priorities of a Luis Gutierrez exemplify the progressive vision for America – a land of hyphenated, self-segregated victims pitted against one another, ready to be manipulated and mobilized in any direction against other groups of Americans, depending on the need at any given moment. If you don’t support the wholesale destruction of our border (southern only, Luis doesn’t give a damn about Canadians), you “hate all of our children.”

That’s the only way the progressive agenda advances – hate, fear, accusations and unfounded charges. If they could win at the ballot box they would’ve won already and wouldn’t have to resort to the courts and the tactics of hate. But they do.

Thanks to progressives, the debate over whether we will remain a nation of laws and maintain our very sovereignty will be one not of substance and logic but rather anger, hatred and racism. It will be led in Congress by a man who personifies those traits—which are the worst of human nature. And that man is progressive Luis Gutierrez.

If we are to move forward not only as a nation but as a species, we have to reject the progressive tactic of divide and conquer. Ethnic strife is exploding all over the world; progressives seek to bring a version of that here. The more people are encouraged and enabled to focus on differences, to see themselves not as an individual in a nation of individuals, but as a part of a group, the more easily they can be manipulated like pawns and pitted against one another.

We aren’t a plot of land on a map. We are a nation with borders and laws. And we are not hyphenates—we are Americans. It’s time we reject the bigotry of progressivism and reclaim both.

The left has willfully taken advantage of this old saying,
a saying that dates to the precise time of the founding of this once “shining light on the hill.”
A perfect system that placed ALL immigrant children into a magnificent school system from which AMERICAN children emerged.
My father often told me of being at age 6, placed into a school where NOT A SINGLE child spoke English, each a recent immigrant. After a couple of years immersed in ENGLISH, they melded into the school system at large.
Time passed, as these “once immigrant” kids emerged as American youngsters, speaking English along with the language of the old folks, knowledgeable of American history and glory, and able to within a couple of generations to TAKE OVER THE COUNTRY. They took over the country as Americans, won a couple of world wars, and proudly and sucessfully raised the next generations of Americans.
That perfect system has been willfully corrupted, dismantled and in general, ruined as to the future, and ruined with a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Perhaps an answer to such discussions as this one regarding so-called "social issues," "immigration," "income inequality," or other such "issues," may lie in the degree to which the foundation ideas upon which America's Declaration of Independence were laid and from which the concept of Creator-endowed individual liberty and the Source from which that liberty is derived have been removed from "the American mind" which, according to Jefferson, existed in 1776.

Further, perhaps so-called "progressive" enemies of freedom understand better than those who fancy themselves as "conservatives" or "libertarians" that, in order to reverse the Founders' ideas of "People over government," and institute "government over People," they must first marginalize and destroy the ideas from which liberty is derived.

The writings of America's Founders are replete with references which rebuke would-be tyrants and cite a Higher Source for life, liberty and rights. Early histories, most of which have been removed from libraries and virtually censored from public discourse, confirm those facts, one of which is cited below and can be read online.

As so-called "progressives" have led a movement in forsaking the Founders' "reliance on Divine Providence," and belief that individuals are "endowed by their Creator," they also have forsaken the principles underlying America's Constitution and Declaration of Independence, and are systematically dismantling the greatest protections for liberty ever established for a people.

The ideas of 1776 came out of a set of ideas consistent with liberty.

We tend to forget, or have never considered, that other world views existed then, as now.

Unless today's citizens rediscover the ideas of liberty existing in what Jefferson called "the American mind" of 1776, we risk going back to the "Old World" ideas which preceded the "Miracle of America."

There are those who call themselves "progressives," when, in fact, their ideas are regressive and enslaving, and as old as the history of civilization.

Would suggest to any who wish an authentic history of the ideas underlying American's founding a visit to this web site, at which Richard Frothingham's outstanding 1872 "History of the Rise of the Republic of the United States" can be read on line.

This 600+-page history traces the ideas which gave birth to the American founding. Throughout, Richard Frothingham, the historian, develops the idea that it is "the Christian idea of man" which allowed the philosophy underlying the Declaration of Independence and Constitution to become a reality--an idea which recognizes the individual and the Source of his/her "Creator"-endowed life, liberty and law.

Is there any wonder that the enemies of freedom, the so-called "progressives," do not promote such authentic histories of America? Their philosophy puts something called "the state," or "global interests" as being superior to individuals and requires a political elitist group to decide what role individuals are to play.

In other words, they must turn the Founders' ideas upside-down in order to achieve a common mediocrity for individuals and power for themselves.
