When I came home from Iraq in 2008, friends frequently asked me what I learned “most” from the experience. That’s a tough question to answer, and it depends greatly on context. I learned many things about my faith, my family, and my country, but if the question relates to the war itself, I’d tend to say something like this: “I learned the enemy is more evil than you can imagine, and I learned that a deployment is more difficult than you can imagine.” But while the deployment was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, the chance to play a very small part (surrounded by a band of brothers) to fight this extraordinary evil made it the most meaningful year of my life.
Since I’ve returned — and it’s been almost six years — I haven’t stopped talking about the nature of the jihadist enemy. I share the stories as much as I can (when the context is appropriate), yet I continue to be discouraged by how few Americans — and especially how few of my friends on the left — truly understand (or even try to understand) what the world faces. So they react in outrage when Israel strikes at Hamas, use the collapse in Iraq to once again score political points against President Bush, and use words like “irresponsible” to describe actions like launching rockets at civilians while hiding behind civilian human shields.

Liberals find meaning in life through politics and the exercise of political power. Jihadis don’t directly threaten them as much as a rival political ideology does.
Back in the 1960's, I wondered why liberals had trouble understanding the pure evil of Communism.
Naw, it’s simpler than that. The liberal mind (which is the mind of 99% of democrats) is run by Magic Thinking, so the reality of evil is never allowed to come to comprehension.
But... they consider conservatives evil.
And they still don’t get it. Especially those that managed to turn their commie leanings in to a very profitable/comfortable life. They just don’t get it. Same as some of the eco warriors. They condemn us yet don’t see any problem jetting around the globe in their quest to save us from ourselves. Weird huh? Somebody is missing a few synapsis or they are at the very least not firing properly.
Liberals don’t understand evil, period. They believe humans are basically good, so evil deeds are due to misunderstandings of some sort.
Just a clump of cells.
They hate God, America, and our constitution more than anything else.
I think you are right. The Magic Thinking is some idealistic we-all-get-along and everyone-is-happy baloney that is just like a dream world. And they, each as individuals, can selectively include or exclude themselves from specific scenarios (and have some bent logic in mind to defend their choices), so they pick and choose the ones that apply to them.

Fortunately we rarely hear phrases like “the Religion of Peace” still coming from clueless Republicans.
Although some are still insisting that jihad Islam is a perversion of ‘true’ Islam. It’s not, it’s just the real thing instead of watered down Islam.
I wonder that Grover Norquist, Islam’s agent of influence in the GOP is up to these days?
Leftists have no problem with killing babies and they have no idea what morality is, they reject the notion of evil.

It is what they are. It is what they do.
They supported the communist mass killings, forced starvation and gulags in the former Soviet Union. They supported the police states and oppression in eastern Europe. The supported the mass killings by the Chinese communists under Chairman Mao. The supported the communists in Indochina and their massacres. They supported Castro in Cuba. It is cool for Democrats to wear Che tee shirts. They supported Mugabe and many other violent African thugs. Jimmy Carter regularly praised Noriega and the Democrats did everything they could to support the Sandinistas.
They supported the Ayatollahs in Iran and the Muslim terrorists in the middle east.
Evil is what liberal Democrats support.
My wife asked me why people like Georg Swartz (aka George Soros) and so many other Jews and leftist gentile elites have come down on the side of Hamas.
It’s because, in their zeal to attain their utopian New World Order, they know that the EXISTING order – ANY EXISTING ORDER THAT MIGHT CHALLENGE THEIR PLAN – must be crushed and they don’t much care who or what does the crushing. To them, Hamas and the radical muslims are just as acceptable as any other mechanism. They foolishly believe that they can control these savages once the existing order is in ruins.
But, stupidly, what they don’t understand is that when – not if – but WHEN the muslims prevail and impose shari’a, Soros and all his Quisling friends will certainly lose their heads!
And it couldn’t happen to a more deserving gaggle of traitorous turncoats.
