I most vehemently disagree.
Boycotts are the purest form of free speech and the most tangible expression of “free market” principles you can exert.
Buy whatever you want based on whatever criteria you want be that political or just that you prefer one product over another (hey, free market right?).
If you love Argentina’s wine, but not their forever and ever bailouts by other world governments, then I guess you have a moral dilemma on your hands. Do what you think is right, but don’t disparage others who know what they need to do.
However, I would not base my buying decisions on an “app” that most certainly has an particular agenda as well. I’d do my own research.
Which reminds me. When I go visit my Father-In-Law up in Solvang next Month, I’m going to make a point of stopping by Sambos in Santa Barbara for Breakfast.
Haven’t been there is Years.
For me, Politics is blood sport. FOOTBALL is LIFE! :)
We have long needed exactly such a thing. And to his lament about making everything political, I will point out that it already is. It's just been one sided up till now.
"You may not be interested in War, but War is interested in you."

Are you saying that the local government publicly posted flyers giving the names and addresses of people opposed to the project? If so, was that out of retaliation or because of some public disclosure law? If the former, it is possible that a law was broken.
So those who bring us that delicious water from the hills of Fiji are now Democrats? You just ruined my day!
That’s true Ive been sensing a two economy system for several years now ..a conservative economy and a liberal economy. Companies will have to make a choice.
It’s just the idea of “affinity marketing” taken to whole new level.
My other points remain the same. Finally we have a tool to steer our money away from leftwing companies.
Years ago I read a book called the "Rhinemann Exchange."
It taught me the folly of trading with your enemies, and let's face it folks, liberals have become our enemies.
I boycott liberal leaning companies whenever I can.
There are plenty of companies that like to play both sides of the fence as much as possible. They will donate to both parties, but will tend to always donate a little more to the party in power.
Professionally printed flyers were printed and distributed.
The website allegedly responsible does not exist, nor is there anyone to contact.
I no longer have the flyer (I gave it to some Greenies & told them environmental hazards were impending. LOL)
I believe it was Upper St Clair Families For Food Fairness, was what they called themselves...
I couldn't agree more. I don't care how "Green" (or if your packaging is made of recycled products which I throw into the trash anyway) your company is (unless you've added hidden extra costs because of it) just make it and sell it to me.
I last ate at that Sambo's in 1970--I think it's the only one still in business.
There used to be a Sambo's around sixth and Western in LA. They had just about the best service I ever experienced. If you ordered coffee, a waitress would always be on hand to refill it before you could empty it.
I have nothing against people not buying certain products from owners whose politics (or whatever reason) they disagree with. I remember reading that for many years Jews refused to buy Ford autos due to Henry Ford’s rank anti-Semitism. I can’t blame them for that. What I dislike is somebody telling me what I should or shouldn’t buy.
Yes
I had some ultra liberal relatives, thankfully lost via a divorce.
Anyway, years ago they shocked me with their 'won't buy from a repub' attitude. Wouldn't go to a movie if one of the few known repubs was in it.
My attitude was if they didn't make a big deal out of their affiliation I didn't care. The nasty one, ie BS, Matt Damon, Woody Harrelson, I'd boycott.
Apparently they want to carry this further. OK, I'll watch what canned tuna I buy. The one that's gonna hurt is Costco.
Thank you, Washington Post, for reminding me to find some Israeli-based companies so I can support them.
Most of my grocery purchases go to HEB, a giant christian family owned grocer here in Texas that dominates where ever they build.
I agree with you and I ignore those. I do have a Couple of companies that I refuse to buy anything from. One is Tyson Foods and the other one is General Electric, but I am not telling anyone not to buy anything from them
How many times have we said, “Vote with your wallet.”
This sword can cut both ways.
Uhh... how about all the people on Free Republic who just the other day proclaimed they would never shop at Target again? Republicans / Conservatives do basically the exact same thing, we’re just not quite as rabid about it.
