Two things going on here

1. The "kid" who was shot was obviously a criminal and a scumbag and the rest of the community is better off for his being dead.
2. But the above is irrelevant to what happened when he was shot by the cop. If he was surrendering to the cop and was still shot as the eyewitness claims, then what the cop did was worse than the scumbag.

I'm almost ready to bet the sink that there is only one bullet hole in the kid, that the bullet did not exit and it was fatal.

On the other hand....I can also see the possibility that when the kid turned around, the cop anticipated a gunshot from the kid and fired. Wouldn't blame the cop a bit. Terrible but him or me?? I wouldn't take the chance...but I still think one bullet.

Had the kid raised his hands and stopped...that's a whole different scenario. The cop would have told him to get on the ground, face down etc etc.

A 6'4", 300 lbs guy does not NEED a weapon to be a deadly threat to a much smaller man. The store owner would have been perfectly justified in shooting the guy the moment he touched the clerk.

I have no sympathy for this punk. But I still want to know what happened prior to and during the shooting itself, as opposed to the earlier robbery. If, as has been suggested, the guy was shot at some distance while fleeing, that may be a problem, punk or not.
