The longtime NBC announcer who did the voice-over on Saturday Night Live since its launch died today. Don Pardos daughter Paula confirmed his death to CBS Radio News. He was 96. Pardo was NBCs staff announcer for more than 60 years.
His voice was familiar to generations of Americans on radio and TV, commercials and game shows, news and sports. On the original version of Jeopardy!, host Art Fleming would start the show with Thank you, Don Pardo and tease winners with, Don Pardo, tell him what hes won!

“k in a previous time, when SNL was funny. “
Wow, you are old... (Just kidding. I remember when they were funny too. Haven’t bothered to watch them in decades, then threw away my TV in the 90’s.)

I’m reminded of the Weird Al parody of the Greg Kihn song “Jeopardy”

“You don’t even get a lousy copy of our home game!” LOL!!!
My favorite Don Pardo in SNL is his voicing of the announcer of the game show “The Question is Moot!” See:

“It’s a car...it’s a lovely red car....it’s a lovely red car with a radio! Back to you, Reverend!”
RIP
For older Americans watching NBC on November 22, 1963, it was Don Pardo that interrupted the regularly scheduled broadcast to inform them that JFK had been shot in Dallas - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uf50Bd86RHY
“Live! From Dealey Plaza, it’s Friday Afternoon!”
This has been Don Pado...not has-been, but, has been Don Pardo.
I just watched a short interview with him in the film “I Know That Voice”. He was a powerhouse!
