If you make a law, you are advocating and authorizing for the ultimate use of government force, deadly force.

That's what laws are.

Sure, any community can say 'don't wear baggy pants or we'll kill you'.

Communities do that all the time for public nudity. The public is willing to kill people that insist on going outside naked (in most of the States).

Just don't pretend that the force of law doesn't apply to all laws. You are the one in the end that authorizes it, or assents to it.

if citizens make local laws that are voted on by te citizens there

Like 'blue laws' that prohibit commerce on Sundays? That was enforceable by the full force of the law, including deadly force.

Seems old-fashioned now.

I loved the blue laws.

One day of the week without the madness of errands-—and the traffic.

Doesn't make much freedom for those that don't agree with you.

I'm all about freedom, regardless of how inconvenient or messy it is.

more people die today because they escalate and engage officers, rather than officers hunting down and muedering someone for an ordinance violation. or parking tickets. they make poor decisions and then get angry when an officer defends themselves from their attack.

like mike brown, for example.

Oh I’m definitely in the minority.

Doesn't matter what happens statistically.

The police, via the law, have the power, using the entire force of the state to enforce whatever law you pass.

Including using deadly force.

That's what making a law means.

People ignoring the law don't have to engage officers. They can simply ignore the stupid law and go about their business, and the government will escalate it.

That's what law is.

George Washington said it plainly.

Officers can escalate because they have guns. A lot of times they are the ones who are in the wrong. It would be a different story if all they had was night sticks and mace. You would see a lot more peaceful resolutions.

Officers can escalate because they are authorized to use all force required to enforce the laws, including deadly force.

That's why I'm for smaller government with fewer laws. Mainly laws that are important, like against rape and murder and arson, and not for silly crap like baggy pants.

I agree. Only the truly dumb ones wear their pants like that anyway. Let them look stupid.

I hated the guys wearing the skinny jeans.

Regardless of my personal opinion about wearing pants, there doesn't need to be a law enforcing it. ;)

That's overkill. Pointing and laughing is good enough.

Nope. That's why laws are enforced.

And what good is a law if it can't be enforced by the state?

You just don't want to recognize that the laws you advocate for carry the entire force of the state.

It's common.

Man shot, paralyzed over unpaid parking tickets. The state can compel you with force to comply with the law.

That's what making laws is all about.

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." -- George Washington.

uncommon for people to be killed over minor things. in fact, illegal. laws spell out consequences.

you're carrying a good point too far and hurting the idea you're trying to express.

SoFloFreeper out.

It's uncommon because people give in to the implied threat, and comply.

You can't just ignore ANY law without bringing down the full force of government if you get noticed.

That's what's involved in making any law.
