The Cubs: A franchise stuck in the mud [Drudge headline: Obamacare Ruins Chicago Cubs Game?]
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | August 21, 2014 | RICK TELANDER

... they are tight enough to have fired a number of low-level workers in the offseason or kept their hours under the 130-hour-per-month cap so ownership doesn’t have to pay dreaded “Obamacare’’ insurance for full-timers.

... the great “Tarp Incident’’ of Tuesday night falls under the financial ignorance umbrella for the Cubs. Field workers that were let go, or could have been working that blustery night, but were sent home early (time clock, remember), could have grabbed a couple handles and maybe gotten the big blue sheet over the infield quicker.

As it was, the game was called late at night, in the fifth inning, because of muck, and the Cubs were declared 2-0 winners over the Giants.

The Giants filed a protest and were upheld, so they had to pick up the game from that point.

I’d say the Cubs’ management forfeited the game. But it’s the MLB, in Chicago...

I’d laugh, but then again my team is the Rangers.

The Chicago Cubs are sad pathetic organization. Think about it, the last time they won a world series (1908), Theodore Roosevelt was president.

I’m sorry, but if you can’t stop worrying about whether you’re team is going to win, you don’t have what it takes to be a Cubs fan.

You think that's bad? Have you seen what's going on with the 49er's new Levi's Stadium? $1.3 billion, and they have to lay new grass for Sunday!

Back in the early 90’s I was living in St Louis. Some of us took the train for the first game against the Cubs at the friendly confines.

The first batter for St Louis, on the first pitch, hit a home run.

A fan in the bleachers held up a sign;

WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR !

The Chicago Cubs are sad pathetic organization.

The Cubs are one of only two remaining original NL teams, and the only one playing in their original city. They have the best field in baseball, and their fans have the most fun. And for all that they never seem to win, they are consistently one of the most profitable teams in Baseball.

Winning isn't everything.

Long time Cubs fan here.

Yeah, going into 9th inning with a 3 run lead, I'm still nervous as heck ....... so many times I've been let down. If they managed to hold on to win, it's a miracle.

Cubs fans should have the best sunny disposition for our looooong sufferings.

The Cubs don’t need Obamacare to ruin the team. The owners and management have been doing just fine on their own in that area for decades now.

The cubs have been stuck in the mud for 106 years.

Hey Chicago, don’t you think it’s time to give up on them?

Lyrics of A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request, by the late Steve Goodman.

But now they only bring fatigue

To the home of the brave

The land of the free

And the doormat of the National League.

Awesome song, I listened to it last night after the Giants beat them.

Winning isn't everything.

Try it sometime, it's pretty cool. (From a Giants fan.)
