Judicial Watch: DOJ Admits Lois Lerner’s Emails Exist

By Joel Gehrke

August 25, 2014 3:11 PM

A Justice Department official admitted that former IRS official Lois Lerner’s apparently missing emails actually exist on a backup server, but the government doesn’t plan to retrieve them.

“A Department of Justice attorney told a Judicial Watch attorney on Friday that it turns out the federal government backs up all computer records in case something terrible happens in Washington and there’s a catastrophe, so the government can continue operating,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton told Fox News’ Shannon Bream.

“But it would be too hard to go get lois lerner’s emails from that backup system,” Fitton continued, paraphrasing the DOJ official. “So, everything we’ve been hearing about scratched hard drives, about missing emails of Lois Lerner, other IRS officials, other officials in the Obama administration, it’s all been a pack of malarkey. They could get these records, but they don’t want to.”

Fitton said his group plans to ask a federal judge to order the IRS to hand over the emails, which conservative opponents of Lerner want to see in order to determine if there is a link between President Obama’s team and the IRS’s targeting of Tea Party groups.

“If this backup system is working, Lois Lerner’s emails are there,” Fitton said.

Alcatraz would be great if they employed my idea. At the end of pier 39, which is across from Alcatraz, we could set up a shooting range. Charge say so much per round per caliber and one gets to blast away and see if they can nail one of these creatures. Say $1a round for a 30-06 out of a BAR; $8 a round for a 50 cal out of your choice of rifle or M2; all the way up to say $100,000 for an A10 straffing run. I don’t have a schedule for 105s or 30MM cannons but you get the idea.

You got it! Let’s say we do manage to get some of perps thrown in jail - so what? There are hundreds more to replace them, and the criminal system itself remains intact. Impact: zero.

“The problem with that is that we do not have a penal colony large enough to accommodate all of them!”

Jersey?

I would not go that far, but see if there was a way to encourage sharks to swim around the island to deter escapes...

True, but they know they can get away with lying to Congress because those feckless, linguine spined, politicians on the Hill won’t do a thing to enforce any kind of oath. A real judge with the real chance of perjury and the honest to goodness possibility of going to the pokey, was needed to bring out the truth.

So the emails could be retrieved but it could cost billions of dollars, millions put out of work, and possibly shut down the grid in the process, so to risky to try.

Their argument is actually:

“We can’t get to those emails because if we did, we might go to jail”

That assumes they WANT to be able to restore the data. They don’t.

I think it’s pretty clear that what’s good for the Republican goose is unacceptable for the Democrat gander.

The one assumption you’re making is that they’d fight a conflict against an armed US resistance in the same handcuffed manner employed against the Iraqi jihadis. They won’t.

As this resistance would be a direct impact to their power, the Gov’t would respond with absolutely overwhelming force. They can play tit-for-tat against Iraq because it costs them little. They can’t play tit-for-tat when an armed resistance takes over, say, Denver.

I’m not saying don’t fight if it comes to that - I’m saying if it comes to that, prepare properly.

Never let an emergency go to waste, eh? Classic. I work in an IT department as well and have seen similar tactics. Politics abounds everywhere.

Seriously. Quit posting while under the influence.

You presume to know what I assume, though I never made mention of it.

Now that you mention it, though, it's entirely probably that they'd try to level that sort of force against the people in the case of armed revolution. They'd try, but they'd fail, because the majority of our armed military personnel would mutiny against such treason.
