Is Wendy Davis' political star fading in Texas gubernatorial race?
Fox News ^ | September 2, 2014 | Kelley Beaucar Vlahos

As a feisty state senator with pink sneakers and a fist in the air, Wendy Davis captured both the love and the ire of America last year when she pulled an 11-hour filibuster of anti-abortion measures in the Texas Capitol.

But after using that star power to win her party's nomination for governor, Davis is still struggling to take a lead over Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott, and some say party confidence in her race is waning.

"I think the frustration in some Democratic circles is that, despite her star power and substantial war chest, she has not been able to move the dial against Greg Abbott after a year on the campaign trail," Mark Jones, political science professor at Rice University in Houston, told FoxNews.com.

Even the high-profile, abuse-of-power indictment of Republican Gov. Rick Perry, whom Davis hopes to replace, didn't seem to hurt Abbott or raise the Democrat's profile over the media din.

Saw my very first Wendy for governor bumpsticker just last week - the sinking ship logo-style - actually mounted on a vehicle. To the left of that was a "Coexist" sticker. Go figure.

Wendy Davis called me the other day on my home phone. After I stopped laughing, I just left the phone off the hook.

Boy are they wasting some money.

If I am to believe Wendy’s ads, it’s ALL Greg Abbott’s fault they haven’t found a cure for Cancer, yet.

With no Obama on the Ticket, do Democrat’s actually think idiots that believe this type of trash will bother to vote in November?

She is toast and will leave Texas to enjoy her new life in a state that appreciates her (NY or CA)

Yes I believe her career as a politician will go forward, just not in Texas.

Sandra Fluke was smart enough to realize that heading to California was her ticket to political success. In her home state of Pennsylvania I doubt she could have been elected dog catcher (maybe in Philly).

The two commercials she has been running against Abbott are filled with mis-truths, half-truths and downright lies.

Doesn't she know that it is not polite to run attack ads before Labor Day?

“She cold as a lady guard at Auschwitz.”

I don’t know, looking at the before photo that might have been a problem for her?

Wendy. Davis: The LBGTQ’s Choice

Which means .2% of Texas voters.

And it doesn’t help his credibility that the “cancer victim” is a fat Latino who looks the picture of health. Whoever thought these ads were effective was wrong.

Amazing what a little paint-n-body work will do for a lemon, eh?

She’s a gonner for sure but the rats will learn quickly, much more so than rinos, that candidates with no substance have no chance.

I can’t stand that ad. Makes my blood boil every time I see it. Davis has nothing though so I can understand why she is running crap ads like that. Desperation ain’t pretty.
