Senate candidate Greg Orman receives endorsements from former Republican lawmakers (KS)

TOPEKA —

More than 70 former Republican lawmakers announced their support for the independent candidate for U.S. Senate over incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts on Wednesday.

Traditional Republicans for Common Sense, which is made up of moderate Republicans who have served in the Kansas Legislature, chose to endorse Greg Orman over Roberts and Democrat Chad Taylor.

“Our members know leadership because they’ve been leadership,” said Jim Yonally, the group’s chairman and a former state representative from Overland Park. “Our members have been there. They’ve been on the frontline. They’ve had to make the tough decisions.”

The group sees Orman as a pragmatist who can broker compromises between the two parties, said Rochelle Chronister, who has previously represented Neodesha in the House and served as chair of the Kansas Republican Party.

“This has been the most do-nothing Congress ever,” Chronister said. “They can’t even pass an appropriations bill to keep the government running.”

Chronister said that Roberts has moved too far to the right in recent years.

I wonder if these "republicans" will be accused of "preventing a republican senate" as so many of we conservatives have!!

Where are the Karl Roves of the world to berate these people for not supporting the republican nominee. Of course, they never berated John Warner or Richard Lugar for endorsing democrats, so I doubt we'll hear anything.

But the silence is truly deafening, even from those that told us to support Roberts at all cost. We conservatives are told that we must always support the republican (no matter how moderate), and yet once again, if a republican nominee "has moved too far to the right," the moderates quickly bolt and support the democrat or the spoiler (to help the democrat).

It's become very predictable.

These people call themselves Republicans, but they are has beens who have been run out of the Republican Party in Kansas. They are the liberals who supported and voted for Sebelius and many other Democrats. If they were to succeed (they won’t), they would hold a press conference and declare themselves to be Democrats. They want to get back in the game.

Kansas “Moderate Republicans” are left-wingers in every sense of the word (and, in fact, are often more left than a lot of KS Democrats). Having a regular Democrat leftist, and a RINO Independent leftist will ensure Roberts being reelected.

IMHO, I believe many of these were part of the George Tiller political machine here in Kansas as he was involved in giving money to candidates legally and illegally. The illegal was exposed when Sebelius was about to become HHS Secretary but nothing ever came of it, just like so much corruption coming from the Dem party these days that nothing ever comes from.

This tells me all I need to know about Greg Orman. I suspected he was just someone they threw in there, with popular conservative talking points, to give the demoncrat a chance as we've seen this tactic before from the liberals. They are a devious bunch. It makes me angry they think we are so stupid that we can't figure out what they are up to. I despise liberals, liberals disguised as moderates, and demoncrats.

Unfortunately, this stuff is not new in Kansas.

People outside the state may not know that Sebelius’ LT Governor, who later succeeded her as governor, when she went national, is a turncoat named Mark Parkinson.

A republican.

Chairman of the Kansas Republican Party!

Then he switched parties, to run with Sebelius.

It gets worse - the guy who was LT Governor in Sebelius’ first term...another turncoat named John Moore.

A coalition of turncoats has also banded together against our current governor - Brownback. I’d bet there is significant overlap in the two groups.

The "we" you refer to is a very small group. They are out to fool the majority of voters who know little about any of the candidates other than their party affiliation.

Obama still polling at 39% approval.

You are totally correct on describing these "republicans supporting Greg Orman."

They are those whom we conservatives went after with our "Clean Sweep" program to rid KS of the folk that stood behind not only Kathleen Sebelius, Democrat Dennis Moore but also George Tiller and those liberals supporting keeping KS the "third trimester abortion capitol of the nation (some might say world!")

To date, Greg Orman has supported liberal democRATS, so what is so "libertarian" about that?

I suppose he supports keeping an open border to supply he and his family and all of KS, with all of the cheap warehouse labor they need as well as gay marriage and making pot legal in KS.

Those so anxious to send elected officials packing because they've been in DC too long (and I do agree with that) need to look at whom they are willing to stand behind before jumping on board (some might actually say in bed) with any candidate not the one they are attempting to remove!

Despite the RINO love he’s getting, Orman isn’t a RINO or ex-RINO (at least not that I can find out) , he briefly ran against Roberts as a democrat in 2008 before dropping out.

Look for pressure to build on the official democrat to drop out. If he doesn’t the party won’t support him, like with Meek in Florida in 2010.

As an “Independent” with the support/endorsements he’s getting, Orman is the de facto “KS Moderate Republican” candidate.

Looks like one of the democrats is dropping out of the the U.S. Senate race and it leaves Orman, lol.

From the Wichita Eagle:

Democrat Chad Taylor drops out of U.S. Senate race against Pat Roberts, Greg Orman

Sounds like Orman polls better head to head with Roberts so by Taylor pulling out, he helps his fellow liberal democrat, er, "independent", lol.

These people are something else. You don't have to deceive to believe or push for Constitutional Conservatism unlike the statist liberalism these people keep trying to push on us.

With Taylor dropping out of the race, Roberts may not squeak by now.

With Chad Taylor leaving the race, it’s between Pat Roberts and an Independent with Democrat support. Roberts has outstayed his welcome (which I’d warned about), but I expect him to win.

Well he didn't have a primary opponent who wasn't a clown who surely would have lost in November so....

Anyway wow, Taylor drops out like an hour after I said he would.

Orman is a defacto democrat, and the RINO with dem support for Alaska Governor is a defacto democrat.

Yes, this is going to be more difficult for Roberts, but the fact is that Orman won’t be caucusing with the GOP and will be a vote for Reid/Zero, and that must be hammered away. I do find it curious if someone in the Dems doesn’t complain about not fielding a candidate for the general.

It’s very strange that this is the second primary where the voters duly elected a nominee only to have them step aside for an “Independent.” I don’t think they should be allowed to simply pull a candidate without a replacement being put on the ballot, it is subverting the will of the voters (a major party nominee saying, “I was nominated, but I’m going to drop out and make sure the party doesn’t replace me so we can get an Indy candidate elected” shouldn’t cut it).

In TN, the only way you can get off the ballot after being duly nominated is if fraud was used in the election (and the candidate is replaced) or if you die.
