It really didn’t help when the GOPe alienated the conservative base by calling us “racists.” Who could have guessed?
++++
That is certainly true. Check my tag line. Nevertheless the Dems are pursuing a split the GOP vote strategy and they are not above funding Libertarian and “Independent” candidates in order to save their majority in the Senate. I don’t think we should be supporting that plan.

My view, certainly not universal here at FR, is that achieving a Republican majority in the Senate is our highest priority in this election cycle. Many others feel that we have to vote on principle and cannot, therefore, support any candidates that don’t meet our FR conservative standards. Not me. I believe it is “hold your nose and vote GOP” time this November.

“Hold your nose” will give us a GOPe led Senate. I’m not happy with that but it beats one led by Harry Reid. Anyone who tries to make the case that there is no difference is, IMHO, simply wrong.

Durbin is not in trouble and there is no way he will lose an election to anyone, let alone Jim Oberwiess.

I have nothing against Oberweiss (in fact I like him) but if memory serves correct he is 0 for 163 in trying to get elected.

Durbin could die tomorrow, and still cruise to re-election.

Sadly there is no way Oberweise defeats Durbin. Oberweise has run unsuccessfully several times. He has lots of money but cannot combat the corruption that is Illinois politics.
I live just down the street from Durbin’s “home” and I know he does not represent the beliefs of his community. He represents the democratic machine in Illinois as defined by Chicago, not the down state area south of I-80.

Too many people (especially the politicians) have forgotten that the elected officials work for us. We “hire” them to represent us and our interests.

Suppose you hire a contractor to do a job within your specifications and they performed like the GOP. What would you do?

I guess the real question is: The GOP(e) is doing a terrible job. Should I hire the Dems instead?

There are only two choices in this election; GOPe or Dem. I'll hire the GOPe once again and try to add a few more Tea Party types to the mix. We are not going to win this battle in one election cycle. Adding more Dem incumbents to the Senate is a loser.

The real problem is this “either/or” false choice.

The GOP began in the mid-to-late 1800s when the Whigs more-or-less imploded.

When I voted for Romney and McCain my action did more to push them to victory then either of them did during their entire campaigns. I’m convinced they both intended to lose.

As I said before, you claim we want a “perfect” candidate. If you call a non-liberal candidate “perfect” then you’re right!

Who said that? I simply want the GOP - even the GOPe to control the Senate rather than the Dems. That means that we need to elect some people who we don't like. That's life. I want Harry Reid out.

All those who claim that there is no difference between Dems running a House of Congress or the GOP are simply not very observant. If it was all the same then you would be seeing Obama getting his agenda passed as easy as pie. He isn't. It is not the same.

I got polled the other night and was asked if I would vote for Durbin or Oberweis in November. I said the latter.
