Islamic State fighters using US arms: study

 Islamic State fighters appear to be using captured US military issue arms and weapons supplied to moderate rebels in Syria by Saudi Arabia, according to a report published on Monday.

The study by the London-based small-arms research organisation Conflict Armament Research documented weapons seized by Kurdish forces from militants in Iraq and Syria over a 10-day period in July.

This report neglects to mention the thousands of former members of the "moderate" Free Syrian Army who have defected to ISIS. For example, the Dawud Brigade which defected last June.

Most of those are still in South Korea. I suspect this article is referring to the large cache of M-16s stolen from Kuwait last year.

McCain will say that by not supporting the FSA with more stuff, we drove them into the arms of ISIL. Basically, if we don't give them everything they want, they will make a pact with the devil, and it will have been our fault. This kind of begs the question - why would we want to bankroll the kind of people who would make a deal with the devil? Assad isn't Hitler - he doesn't rule the world's #2 industrial power. In fact, I'd argue that ISIL, while not Hitler in terms of industrial capability, is somewhat closer to Nazism, ideologically, than Assad will ever be. If there's an alliance to be made it's with Assad against ISIL.

And the US arming the Morsi ME crowd. ME, I hope everyone, is the mother organization spawning all of the radical groups such a AQ and ISIS.

The 20,000 M-16’s that “unexpectedly” were stolen from an unprotected Kuwaiti warehouse on 4-9-2013 I’m sure are in the mix. 20,000 M-16’s...while in basic training a single M-16 went missing while we were in barracks (I swear me and my buddy didn’t hide it in the shower ceiling tiles) the whole building and immediate area went on lock down. But what the heck 20,000 just up and vanish....no big deal. “the kid who left the firearm unattended was known for being a snitch about cigarette smokers to the drill sergeants”
