Has ‘battle buddy’ been an excepted term for very long?

"A kinder, gentler military."

And our enemies love it!

Too damn many lawyers, activist groups, and special interests calling the shots in today's PC, transgender, gay military!

Warfare isn’t stressful and is kind and gentle. It doesn’t require tactics pounded into muscle memory. Combat and the fact that you might have to do something you don’t “like” and is actually extremely “scary” like fighting through an ambush, flanking an automatic weapon position, breaching a door and pushing through in support of armored vehicles after lack of sleep, food and water witnessing your friends death and dismemberment just might be more stressful than somebody yelling at you and making sure you’re paying attention.

The yelling and stress is used to desensitize you for combat. It gets you ready for the bad part of being a soldier.

I think every combat unit should be accompanied by an attorney, who can advise them on when it is legal to return fire or not...

“But sometimes you have to give them a little extra TLC.”

“Recruit...please tell us how you FEEL. Did my angry words upset you? Would you feel better if I apologize? Has anyone said anything that makes you feel like you were discriminated against? We have a form you can fill out if you think someone has asked you to do something that you felt was unfair.”

I did a triple-take on that line. Then stopped reading right there. God help us is right.

Chances are, there is a JAG at the TOC (or whatever its called now) who is consulted by radio in each such situation.

I’ve got to admit that the Army ad about the boy who joined the Army to become a graphics artist is a heck of a lot smarter than those who joined to become soldiers REALLY PISSES ME OFF.

The point is not profanity, the point is STRESS.

One purpose of recruit training is to STRESS THE HELL out of the coddled darlings.

If an individual is prone to crack under pressure, we would like to see it at the recruit depot - where the failure is manageable.

If a recruit doesn’t have the right stuff, you cut your losses and let them go. You don’t want this coddled individual to get deep into a training cycle - or worse a combat situation - and find that they are unfit.

Why? I thing the answer is obvious...

It may be necessary to amend the Geneva Convention so that all combatants recognize time out cards for when things get too hairy.

The “old ways” were used because they save lives....both of the individuals taught and their mates, it’s that simple.
