Just for the sake of argument, did Jesus taking meals with tax collectors, etc., imply approval?

Or were they just the sinners who most needed help?

Of course, I am not certain how being marshal would have the potential help those people.

He sets up a criterion by which he can’t lose.

It’s a criterion by which he could legitimately serve as Grand Marshal of next year’s Gay Pride Parade.

Namely, as long as the gay group marching does not actually NAME any immoral actions and EXPLICITLY PROMOTE them, the Cardinal can serve as Grand Marshal.

This is as slick and dishonest as...Cardinal Dolan!

YOU took the words right out of my mouth!

Dolan yukking it up, between DiMaggio fallout and that which abhors his own promotion of support for descecrating the name of St. Patrick and giving public scandal in his aid and comfort to purveyors of sexual perversion.

That opening line is material for projectile vomiting, but more than that it is an assault, a hard slap in the face, an open declaration of war, a battle engaged message to the faithful.

Dolan is flaunting his green light from the Conference and Rome.

Should I read the rest? Maybe the rest is a mea culpa, right?

If homosexual actions are sinful, then what religious/moral justification could anyone give to the recognition of a group whose sole purpose is to promote their identity as homosexuals?

The logic here is idiotic. It's like saying: "I'm sober right now, but I'm a proud alcoholic!"

When they start simulating sex acts while marching Dolan will find out what their presence in the parade is all about. Anywhere sodomites are allowed to congregate and march they turn it into another Sodom and Gomorrah. It’s called “look at me, and if you don’t like me, so what, I’m coming for your children”. Dolan is a disgrace and should be replaced as Archbishop.

Dang straight.

And, in this case the word, “celibate”, is no where near appearing on the queers parade banner.

HAVING same-sex attraction is not sinful. But the group that will be marching in the parade will be PROCLAIMING a same-sex attraction. HAVING and PROCLAIMING are not the same thing.

And, of course, Dolan is being totally dishonest in pretending that PROCLAIMING same-sex attraction is not promoting immoral acts. According to Dolan, the marching gay group would be objectionable ONLY if they march under a banner that NAMES specific immoral actions, and PROMOTES them.

That’s just a big loophole he tailor-made for himself.

Maybe he should ride on the float with the more demonstrative members of the ‘Parade’.

You know, the one that wear chaps (ONLY), the one simulating(?) fornication and fellatio, the freaks that want to get in everybody’s face.

If I were a member of his Diocese, the donations on Sunday would be NILL and when someone asked why, just point out this travesty and the churches UNWILLINGNESS to really act against the likes of Pelosi and Biden those famous CINO who are still allowed to receive the sacraments.

If it suits their agenda. I am speaking those two clowns and the Church suiting their agenda.

I can fully understand his reasoning and respect it. I disagree with it but he makes well thought out points.

There is no “honor” if you go along with homosexual activism. Shame on you. Disgusting. You’re a social whore.

I agree with you.

They talk out of both sides of their mouths.
I want no part of them anymore.

His logic only works if it was a group of professed celibate gays and we all know that is not the case.

I agree. His logic is sound, and I can't argue with his argument. We should have no problem if Alcoholic Anonymous marched in the parade. Nor if reformed Drug addicts marched. They know that they have a predilection for these vices, so they swear them off. The Cardinal is arguing the same analogy for these marchers with a predilection for homosexual behaviour. If they are truly reformed, and stating that they recognize that homosexual behaviour is a sin and offensive to God, then sure - let them march. Our prayers go with them. We are all sinners and have weaknesses of some kind. Welcome to the party.

Unfortunately I also agree with you -- although the Cardinal's argument is sound -- it is not based on reality. The marchers will be those that celebrate their sinful lifestyle, and his attendance will provide a stamp of approval.

Just ignore them. You know the faith well enough to know when a particular bishop is a heretic or a jerk.

Catholics don’t need daily marching orders from the Pope or bishops. Good Catholics can ignore the Pope or bishops for decades on end. And it’s apparent that we are going to need to.

IIRC Jesus once said "render unto Caesar" which is a clear indication that "Caesar".meaning government, can be legitimate and,in using the word "render",indicated that the taxes levied by government can be legitimate as well.

OTOH,I've never seen that slightest hint of evidence that God *ever* approves of a homosexual act.

Or were they just the sinners who most needed help?

Of course Christ's vicars must be among the sinners. That,IMO,is their single most important mission. But while among them that vicar must be teaching, guiding, perhaps even chiding rather than smiling and watching them celebrate their sinful deeds.

“being Gay” is not a sin

This is just too clever. Having unwilled homosexual attraction is not a sin but when someone declares themselves as "gay" they are saying much more than that. They are proclaiming that such attraction is normal and that they feel justified in acting on that attraction. They are also seeking to coerce society to accept such a position. This is a direct challenge to Catholic teaching and the good cardinal knows this. If these were just good Catholics with homosexual attractions but who were nevertheless trying to live caste lives according to Catholic teaching they could march under the Courage banner.

What the cardinal is missing here (whether on purpose or not, God knows), is that the marching of the sodomites during this current political climate of growing acceptance of deviant behaviors of every kind, what he is missing is the fact that their public march is a political stunt designed to gradually change society to accept their corrupt lifestyle, not their shameful tendencies (which have never been shown to be inborn and willed by God!)

To illustrate, let us ask,

“Are there any people with murderous thoughts proudly marching to broadcast to the world their shameful tendencies?”

“Are there any alcoholics with debauchery tendencies proudly marching to broadcast to the world their shameful tendencies?”

“Are there any people with stealing desires proudly marching to broadcast to the world their shameful desires?”

“Are there any women with desires to sell their bodies on the street proudly marching in the parade to broadcast to the world their lecherous tendencies?”

Then why are (supposedly non-practicing) sodomites with desires to soil each other (and thus provoke God’s wrath) proudly marching in the parade to broadcast to the world their desires for sodomy?

Shame, cardinal, where is your shame? Prudence, cardinal, where is yours?

Who am I to judge? I am a soul made by Christ but corrupted by Adam who has an opportunity to reach heaven by the grace of the same Christ Jesus, who by proper discernment (judgment) can reach Him and heaven.

Who am I to judge? I am a watchman (as another “Freeper” mentioned in an earlier post), who by warning those in error will not share in their punishment should they not heed the warning.

I hope also to enlighten others by this judgment so as to help them in heaven where joys will be unspeakable instead of hell where the torments will be unbearable.

Same-sex attraction may not be sinful, but it is absolutely a human disorder.

Let's be honest here and call this for what has really happened. Timothy Dolan had every intention of marching in this parade in matter who else is marching in it, and he's now running around trying to justify himself no matter how ludicrous he sounds.

I'm sorry. I missed the point in the whole discussion where the homosexual group marching in the parade is describing themselves as "reformed homosexuals."

Your sense of moral equivalence here doesn't work.

I would also suggest that having an AA group march in a parade like this isn't a good idea at all. I fail to see what can be gained by promoting vices as normal behavior.

As Anne Catherine Emmerich said, and I believe it true, the Church is undergoing the passion of Christ. In a vision she saw all the bishops of the world and said very few of them were sound in mind and body, and many of them working for destruction.

Our Lady asked we pray for the Church. She also warned what will happen when things fall apart.
