Neither will work starting early Sunday morning. The system will go down at midnight and isn't expected to come back online until noon Sunday.
It's being shut down so the state can switch to a new company to run the program. It will take at least 12 hours to do the switch. Medicaid benefits are on the same card, but they will not be affected by the change.
Nearly a third of the city's residents rely on food stamps, according to U.S. Census data.
Toni Maxwell, a spokeswoman for Catholic Charities of Onondaga County, said her concern is that the switch won't go smoothly and will end up taking longer than expected.

I’m guessing that whether or not the system transfers with or without a hitch, they’ll still use it as an excuse to riot and loot.
The word will spread quickly, they will show up at the register with overflowing shopping carts and demand they are allowed to leave with their booty. Worked last time, if I were Walmart I would close the NY stores until the new system is operational, they are going to lose a lot of money otherwise.

Really? When we go to church, it is usually Saturday if we got family activities planned. GOD doesn’t mind when you go — if you have 2 or more people...GOD is fine with it. GOD doesn’t mind WHEN you go...

I don't mind saying, this is damned peculiar.
