Native Texan here. This article makes me ill. Big difference in Republican and Conservative, and Texas (even as the Republic) is a CONSERVATIVE state, regardless of party. Get it? Republican, Democrat...Texas votes Conservative.
Now what is Florida's Republican son George P. doing here? GO AWAY! We let it slide with Bush from Maine. George W. at least worked here, at several jobs, and married a local, Conservative girl. But this transplant-where-they'll-vote-for-your-sorry-Republican-@ss-BS is getting a little old. More Bush Texan political wannabes? Good grief. And the sad thing is he'll be the only option. The REPUBLICANS in Texas will see he's the candidate. Comments? I'm pissed.

Republican, Democrat...Texas votes Conservative. One of the big problems we have in Texas is that all democrats regardless of what they believe know that they can't get elected to state-wide office here, so they switch to being a "republican" (like Perry did), and hide the fact that they are really closet democrats.
This is one of the reasons we still don't have open carry in Tx, and only recently have been able to make any inroads into reducing the burden for getting a CCW here.
Another problem we have is that Austin is essentially California transplanted to Texas. It doesn't help any that the legislooters exist in such a liberal bubble.

George P. Bush was born in Houston, attended Rice University and got a law degree from the University of Texas Law School. He is serving in the US Navy Reserve and was deployed for 8 months in Afghanistan (but under a fake name for security reasons). At the recent event at the WWII Memorial in Washington to mark the 69th anniversary of V-J Day he was the keynote speaker. He kept it short and said the appropriate things.
I don't know if he's a RINO or not--if he is it will come out soon enough, but I'm for judging him on his own merits or lack thereof, not on whom he is related to. He had no choice when it came to picking his parents and grandparents.
