HOLDER OUT: Pelosi Informs Distraught Congressional Black Caucus [VIDEO]

Attorney General Eric Holder is officially announcing today that he is stepping down from his post, according to multiple reports. Holder has been in office for over five and a half years, and is one of President Obama's original cabinet members.

NPR reports that Holder will be leaving office as soon as his successor is in place, which could take as long as into early next year. Holder is the fourth longest serving AG in U.S. history.

Moments after the NPR story broke, Nancy Pelosi confirmed the report to a meeting of the Congressional Black Caucus, eliciting outcries of dismay from those in attendance and protestations like "that is so bad" and "that is a shock."

Holder has been surrounded by controversy during his tenure, including over the Fast and Furious scandal, the failure to prosecute New Black Panthers for voter intimidation, and perhaps the most egregious, the Nixon-esque investigation of members of the press. As the AP reported at the time:

Yes, I'm well aware of that, and what I'm going to say isn't well liked by many here but it's this.... Communism - Socialism has patience, it has entered our society step by step in increments through the decades. As they controlled more and more they pushed harder and faster.

We HAVE to win the Senate to insert a conservative into SCOTUS, and we could do it except for those who demand purity in a candidate. There is NO perfect candidate so we need to need to vote for the best possible one and continue from there - just as our enemies have done!

Yes, we must have a conservative appointment which means we must unite to elect what William F. Buckley called "the most conservative candidate electable". He wrote the Sharon Statement in 1960 which was the founding document of Young Americans for Freedom, which I joined to elect Goldwater. Reagan promoted Goldwater and from the ashes of that campaign arose the eight years of Reagan after Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter. We ought not be put off by a long fight--our enemies are not.
