Yesterday’s Howie Herald column, “Debate will not be must-see TV”

http://www.bostonherald.com/news_opinion/columnists/howie_carr/2014/10/carr_debate_will_not_be_must_see_tv

As for Howie’s radio show, it was thought his contract ran out as September did, but so far I haven’t heard of any changes. He is still running on WRKO and his “network” but soon he will relocate to the Money Matters/Financial Network studios and I don’t know if WRKO will pick up the new show, syndicated by Global Media, but I’d think so, especially with elections coming up.

It’s thought he could add affiliates outside New England. The show will undoubtedly stay in its current time slot.
What a long strange trip it’s been...I remember in the late 80s hearing Howie appear on Jerry Williams show, including as part of the “Governors” on Tue. afternoons. He got his own show middays, was dropped, and reappeared via WHDH AM 850...then in the fall of 1994, he and Rush were moved over to WRKO. Jerry got sent to different time slots and passed on some 10 years ago.

Howie’s sidekick Doug “VB” Goudie went to Fox 25 around the same time. Nancy “Sandy” Shack has stayed with him, and we’ve gone through so many years of fun and hopefully informative listening. So it will continue and once I hear more about new affiliates, etc, I’ll let you know—raccoonradio

Moonbat Spoiler Trouble for Martha
Howie Carr, Boston Herald 10/8/14

Charlie Baker got two breaks last night.

First, he didn’t call anybody “sweetheart.”

Second, he found out that Evan Falchuk appears quite comfortable in the role of “bad cop” on the issue of Marsha Coakley and the sainted Deval Patrick — in other words, he might end up being the same kind of distraction for the Democrats that Christy Mihos was for Muffy Healey in 2006.

Case in point: The one time Marsha drew blood last night was when she brought up how Baker tripled his salary at Harvard Pilgrim to $1.7 million. Even though the question seemed obvious, Charlie was squirming. Flop sweat was in the air.

But Comrade Falchuk stepped in and pointed out that Baker’s salary had to be signed off on by the attorney general.

He also asked Marsha — but not Charlie — if she’d protest the other three candidates’ “disinvitation” from some forum in Worcester. Comrade Falchuk was as tough on Deval’s staggering website incompetence as Baker was.

But most importantly, Comrade Falchuk came out against “militarizing” the police. That’s one of those moonbat dog whistles. Of course most of them would never dare criticize Deval or Barack — that’s hate speech, after all — but many of the moonbats still look back fondly on the glory days of Code Pink and Cindy Sheehan.

Are you paying attention, Don Berwick voters? Sure, Falchuck’s a white guy, but there’s no oppressed gay illegal alien to vote for, so what does it matter if Comrade Falchuk does to Marsha what Jill Stein did to Shannon O’Brien in 2002?

As for Marsha, well, she was Marsha. She talked about a sex-abuse victim seeking her out and telling her, “I’m 30. I still have nightmares. I wanted to thank you.”

What?

Then she bragged that on Obamacare, “We provided the model for the rest of the nation.”

Oh, great. Remind me to play that cut on the radio when the employer mandate kicks in after the election and millions more Americans are stripped of their health care.

She was asked about cutting taxes. Hack that she is, Marsha answered with repeated use of the “I” word — “investments,” i.e., higher taxes for pinky-ring unions, illegal aliens and EBT cardholders.

Remember how last summer Marsha thought the state gas tax was a dime?

Now she wants automatic hikes from whatever the tax is, because “business leaders” want it. You know, “business leaders,” the kind of greedheads who make $1.7 million a year.

Marsha makes Mr. Frosty Markey look like a brain surgeon. She slammed Baker for “reverting” $2 million unspent dollars during his days as a cabinet secretary. That’s a sin in her world, a mortal sin, not spending every last dime of taxpayer dough.

On the use of the hundreds of millions the automatic gas tax increase would bring to the bloated hackerama, she said it was needed “if we’re going to be able to build South Coast Rail.”

South Coast Rail — the high-speed rail from Boston to Fall River and New Bedford. A couple of billion funneled to Democrat money-machines, and the state admits that this crackpot scheme will lose $40 million a year ... in the first year.

What an “investment.”

But Marsha did have one good thanks-for-nothing moment. As much as she no doubt wanted to, she restrained herself from expressing her most deeply felt belief.

“Technically, it is not illegal to be illegal in Massachusetts.”

Moonbats, get your Falchuk yard signs today!

A post on the radiodiscussions Boston board says Howie and Sandy will be out of Guest St within 30 days. Rumor has it (same source) RKO would only run Howie if they get to control his show...yeah right..

I remember thinking that there couldn’t be anything worse than Dukakis. Those were the good old days.

from Boston Radio Watch
bostonradiowatch.blogspot.com

>>Howie Carr update : As mentioned here previously, very shortly(like days), WRKO 680’s Howie Carr will be a free man after 20 years in the afternoon drive at the Talk Station. Carr is going into regional/national syndication but WRKO 680 is definitely out of the running as his Boston affiliate. As a matter of fact, the station is gearing up for the Life after Howie and will be holding tryouts with potential replacements after he departs and will name a permanent replacement when the new year starts. As for Carr, he may or may not have a new Boston affiliate but Worcester’s 830 is putting out a pretty powerful 50,000 watt signal so that may serve as a temporary band-aid for his Boston area listeners. One talk radio insider even wondered if WRKO would try to lure former WTKK personality Michael Graham from Atlanta back to Boston...at least for a holiday fill-in work in December.

Be sure to check out our thread on the election; if you're on the ping list, you should have gotten it. As you may notice howiecarrshow.com got a bit of a makeover including this nice little banner. From what I'm hearing WRKO has passed on carrying H's new show (but who knows); someone on the radio boards mentioned he talked for 20 minutes with Howie and the Mailroom Manager (Cathy, the Mrs...) and Nov 17 is supposedly the date the Howie-controlled show debuts. Howie would still be on WCRN, WXTK etc as far as I know as well as the various apps. I'll let you know when I hear more.
