I can only imagine the terror this man and his family are going through with him under threat of being murdered. My heart goes out to him and his family.

Having said that, the US should not make any concessions to get him back. If that means he is executed, so be it. If you go to these countries, you accept the risk that you may be kidnapped and killed, period. There should be no expectation whatsoever that the US is going to pay to get you back or make other concessions to these savages.

Is this the former Army Ranger? They ought to strip him of his Ranger tab. Gotta wonder on the state of his soul, especially if he was a professing Christian before the abduction. I wonder is this the one unforgivable sin that could cause him to lose salvation? A Ranger ought to know better than anyone what would await him in captivity and force them to kill him first, taking as many as he could for the trip, any way he could. As an aid worker he might not have been armed but everybody should carry a trustworthy combat knife for those last desperate moments. That way he could sing his death song and go to the Lord like a warrior going home. (Confession, I saw that phrase on a "RANGER-UP T-Shirt) At least that's how I see it.
