Maybe the same thing that happened with that female Major in Kasakhstan, the media just ignore it until it fades from memory.

are you telling me that guys today are spending almost 4 years in service and becoming Airborne Rangers and going to war, and never becoming more than a PFC?

I dunno, it's been 30 years since I was on active duty and twenty since I left the reserves. But historically, there was a time in our history where there were professional privates who served the full retirement stretch (20+ years) and got out as that rank. I know this because I am a history teacher. Of course with the advent of the VOLAR (Volunteer Army) all that got pushed aside. Still, there are certain outfits and situations where promotions just come slower. Perhaps that was the case in this instance? Again, I dunno.

My first military service was long before yours, but I would be amazed to find out that combat veterans with almost 4 years in and service as an Airborne Ranger, are normally being discharged as PFCs.

He got out on a medical, maybe he was on a medical profile so much he didn't have the required time in grade or the proper recommendations from the chain of command.

I doubt that explanation for a 4 year man, combat veteran, Airborne Ranger, getting out as a PFC.

I almost never watch any movies , I refuse to let that Hollywood crap into my brain. The last movie I watched , about 5 x’s , was Lone Survivor . I do not watch movie on TV even , except maybe the odd old Bogart movie . I am not into fiction , there are far too many real issues to focus on . So let’s end this exchange shall we ? Thanks

End what exchange, just quit posting silly stuff, and you should also change your home page which gives people the impression that you are a military veteran.

Well the only other explanation is a look at his disciplinary file. Right? I had troops who were outstanding soldiers who just couldn't stay out of trouble. Of course he should have been kicked out of the regiment but there's no telling if he had a "rabbi" or someone protecting him from that. Could have a family friend who knows a congresscritter or something. The military is nothing if it's not political to it's very core. It's not usually seen with the enlisted ranks but in the officer corps, it's rampant.

No it was a possible answer to the assertion you made that it wasn't possible in YOUR opinion that anybody could go four years in a Ranger outfit and come out as only a pfc, which still shows the man got promoted twice. In my post I merely pointed out a possible reason that this could in fact occur. The possible explanation is a disciplinary issues or issues, reoccurring over a period of time. I then backed it up in my own active duty experience. What do you not understand? I'd like to ask you what your rank was when you left the service and after how many years?

You are still not saying anything useful, just chatty wordiness, about nothing useful.

See what, you don’t know why he left service as a PFC, but God knows that you are willing to keep talking about it, forever.
