First Whitewater prosecutor says 'serious crimes' were uncovered in probe

The first federal prosecutor to probe the financial dealings of Bill and Hillary Clinton says he was poised to bring high-profile indictments against top Arkansas political and business figures — based in part on testimony from a chief witness against the then president — when he was abruptly replaced by a panel of federal judges, throwing his investigation into turmoil.

"I was angry, frustrated and above all disappointed that I was not going to be able to carry through and finish bringing the indictments," writes Robert Fiske, a former U.S. attorney who served as the original independent counsel in charge of the Whitewater investigation, in a forthcoming memoir, "Prosecutor Defender Counselor."

"The simplest way to put it, after I was replaced, the lawyers on the staff in Arkansas said the agents for the FBI and IRS were totally demoralized," Fiske said in the Yahoo News interview. "They thought we were on the brink of doing all these great things, and now that was not going to happen."

I am not totally familiar with the details of organized crime in New England, but in the decades after John and Robert Kennedy died, there appears to have been a war between Italian-American organized crime and the Irish-American gangsters, notably Whitey Bulger. The Irish faction became dominant in Boston with the 1980s era FBI aligning with the Bulger gang at the expense of the Mafia. I don't know what motivated the FBI to align with the Irish gang, but with the Godfather movies, Goodfellas, and the like, last names ending in vowels would have brought greater headlines than Gaelic surnames.

Could a Kennedy attempt to dominate organized crime, as you state, be fitted into a context of ethnic warfare in organized crimes? Not all gangsters are Italian-American; the big cities had plenty of Irish and Jewish "wiseguys", not to mention blacks, Poles, Germans, Greeks, etc. In the South and Southwest, the gangsters were mostly of British Protestant background, e. g., Benny Binion and H.K. Beebe.

This guys grandfather was in a position with the “family” as he called it, the Mafia didn’t exist, that he would have known if they had anything to do with taking out the Kennedys and he said his grandfather always said he wished they had taken out the Kennedys.

After the collapse of the USSR, it’s govt was studied and the conclusion was the USSR was an organized crime syndicate not a govt as we understand it.

If what the guys grandfather said was true and the Kennedys were trying to take over the “family”, the Kennedys by trying to turn the US govt into an organized crime syndicate competing against the Soviet crime syndicate very easily could have gotten us into a gang war with the USSR which would have been WWIII.

I’ve always wondered if that was the motive for taking out the Kennedys, only one govt controlled crime syndicate and to stop WWIII.

After the collapse of the USSR the dem party and the US govt under a dem president, first Clinton then Obama, has become more and more like an organized crime syndicate.

The dems are taking us to what the USSR was, an organized crime syndicate.
